yep, as it should be. it’s called property rights, and it was considered sacred by our Founders. In fact, I like to call property rights an issue of “sanctity outside the womb” - and it is, when you think about it.
If the government owns your property de facto, then they own you, and your very personhood is stripped away.
Makes sense. A property owner can place any number of restrictions on a tenant’s use of their property. No smoking (cigarettes), no pets, limitations on overnight guests, etc. No reason this should be any different.
But Christians are enslaved to the State in performance of their crafts.
Great way to weed out the lowlifes (no pun intended).
Michael Phelps, multiple gold medal winner = lowlife
Gary Johnson, former 2 term Republican Governor of NM who went on to scale Mt. Everest and regularly competes in many different Iron Man type events and such = lowlife
In plain words, ignorant stereotypes.
I doubt either of them would be renting an apartment in CO. Nevertheless, they set a poor example.
Just because federal laws aren't being enforced doesn't mean they're not still on the books. The strong arm of the DEA can always come down and seize property where drug use is taking place.
I'm sure landlords are aware of this.
Of course they wouldn't, but you are missing the point entirely. You are perpetuating ignorant stereotypes, simply because your own biases (based on propaganda and lies) keep you from seeing the truth.
"DISCRIMINATION!!!"
The owners should be worried about the federal laws .
Same for banks with federal charters & FDIC insurance, insurance companies that insure real estate, etc. , and ..
I voted in favor of legalization, but I believe in property rights first. I don't believe there's any way this can be classed as such. Don't like the landlord's no-pot law? It's real simple to fix: go somewhere else.
Employers also have this right, drug testing (even for desk jobs) can continue. There are even employers in this country that deny employment to tobacco smokers.
But smoking pot is a lifestyle choice like homosexual relations and we’ve seen how that have transpired.
Smoking of any kind is forbidden in some rentals.
Once again, as well they should. In fact, a business owner, or landowner, should be able to do whatever they want with their business or property. You're right that smoking pot is a lifestyle choice, and one who chooses to do so should also be willing to accept the downside, like with any other choice we make in life. I do, however, also believe that some are taking it a bit far, but again, that is certainly their right.
An athlete and a pro-abortion/pro-gay politician?
Stop with your facts and common sense!
You conveniently forgot the "very successful" part, which entirely destroys the biggest cornerstone of the anti-MJ propaganda, that all pot heads are worthless and lazy.
You forgot to mention Travon and the gentle giant, both far more representative of the group than the 2 you mention.
LOL conveniently left out that your pro-abortion/pro-gay hero is successful in having people who endorse him like you do?
Your hero shows your liberalism.
