About this police chief:

Everywhere that authorities agreed with those looking to cause trouble, there has been major chaos. The protest organizers took those signs of weakness, and exploited it to the point of burning cities down.

What is this police chief thinking, not defending his officer? This is the best TEXAS can do? Does he want his town to be the next Ferguson or Baltimore?

“2. No other officer, at least until this point in time, was in a situation where they were being targeted by multiple individuals simultaneously.”

I was referring to his conduct BEFORE the arrest. The other officers are seen standing around, talking to people, trying to calm the situation. This guy was running around, screaming at people, ordering them to get on the floor, etc. Generally escalating the situation.

LOL, if that still taken from the video is a shooting stance, it sure is different than mine, there are a lot of stances as young bodies move around in a video.

But the still image captured and posted on the Conservative Treehouse was CLEARLY captioned "assumes shooting stance." So, obviously, the guy assumed a shooting stance.

Officially he resigned.

Eh...with such a politically charged situation, I would wager he was under a very lot of pressure to “resign”.

There is an expansive grey fire/resign area, even for routine cases in which a person stops working some entity.

I don’t have first-hand knowledge of this case, but I am suspicious.

“I had 12 officers on the scene and 11 of them performed according to their training.”

According to training? Like letting the first guy go in, take the major shit, and then go in with force of numbers?

Casebolt arrived at the scene WITH two other officers. Have they resigned? Are they being criticized?

No. Because they handled themselves with professionalism and composure.

I envision more emboldened lawbreakers this summer.

Don't doubt it. The political climate has been set at the top through various campaigns, Ferguson, Baltimore. Also, police will step back. Unless directly witnessing major felonies, why get involved when youths behave badly? Its just not worth it.

He wasn’t under pressure, he is a cop, and he resigned quickly, it could be that he sees himself as I see him, too emotional and Barney Fife like, for street work.

While everyone else was doing their job, he managed to turn this into a fiasco, he was obviously in over his head, and overwhelmed.

"I had 12 officers on the scene and 11 of them performed according to their training.”

I wonder how those eleven will react. Do they have the courage to back a fellow officer?

Or can they explain why they refuse to back him? Is the Chief right?

The cop was screwed on this one. Right after he has to shove two aggressive women away,he has two guys dart behind him. Good for the cop on not killing a few.

I don't know about "pressure," but I do know that the department was conducting an internal investigation into the incident, and now that he has resigned, that investigation has been terminated. My guess is that he figured it would be better to resign now and halt that investigation, rather than take his chances of being fired following the internal investigation (if he was ultimately found at fault). Better for his future employment prospects, at least.
