If you don’t see anything wrong with his actions then watch the video again. There is clearly more shouting and panic and escalation every where this officer runs.
Once again, in crowd control rule #1 is DO NOT ESCALATE things.
He did not know how to handle this situation. Running from kid to kid screaming and swearing like that, put him at their level.
The two other officers at the scene should have made him stop and calm down, while they regrouped to reconsider how to address a large group where they were clearly outnumbered.
Are you a law enforcement officer? Or, do you just play one, from your keyboard?
It sounds like you have the perfect plan on how to manage this exact situation. Until you’ve stood in this - or ANY officers - shoes how about you refrain from calling him an idiot?

FOR ALL YOU KNOW, if the officer had not STOPPED the girl (who was ranting and challenging the cop, and advancing on him), she might have convinced the group of 'yutes' to gang up on the cop, who might have then HAD to use his weapons to defend himself, resulting in some deaths.
BE CAREFUL what you 'wish' for.
