Plainly tampering with evidence is prima facie evidence of malice.
Planting a weapon on the deceased pretty much makes any case against the planter one of “guilty until proven innocent”.
Why are you making me the issue? That’s why I say the judicial process is fairer and different from what happens on FR.

The “Perp” had not been charged with a crime, had not in fact committed a crime and obviously was no longer a threat to anybody. He did wrestle with a cop trying to subdue him with a taser, what cops laughing call “riding the wire”, but who wouldn't try to stop the punishment being meted out illegally by a cop with a tazer.
The cop picked up the taser and placed it at the feet of the victim/perp after he killed him to make it look like he had a reason to shoot him.
This cop deserves what he will get in prison. I don't imagine he will make it two years before they get to him and murder him there.
The cop made a horrible mistake. I suspect if he had to do it all over again he wouldn't make that mistake. Cops are given a lot of power and authority in our culture, for that however they have to be held to a higher standard than you or me.
I haven't decided if I feel sorry for the cop or not but I do believe he will spend the rest of his life in prison and I also believe he deserves it.
Because I think that you already know about the videos and photos and like several on this thread with their questions, that your question was not sincere.
Well who knows what those unarmed guys who are behind on child support might do if you let them go?
Of course, there was a time when officers of the law just chased down middle-aged fat guys on foot and cuffed them. Not this officer however. He knows how to handle a deadbeat dad.

Why would that matter except to provide a motive for the murder?
It’s apparently way too much trouble for CNN to figure out exactly what KIND of murder charge.
According to the NYT:
“Under South Carolina law, there is only a single murder charge, which Ms. Wilson described as being an “unlawful killing with malice aforethought” — with the premeditation required to exist for only a few seconds before a killing in order to gain a conviction.
“As long as malice is proven in the heart and mind, the state has proven its case,” she said.
[Apparently, though, one assumes that S.C. still has “manslaughter”, considered by law as less culpable than murder.]
He didn’t plant evidence.He laid the taser gun next to him because the wires were stuck on the police officer.The guy tasered the officer.
The cop shot the guy, walked to him (20+ feet away), walked back to the Tazer, picked up the Tazer, walked back to the deceased, and placed it on/next-to him. That’s a lot of deliberate effort for something that absolutely didn’t need doing. If you did that (as a non-cop), that alone would enough for many years in prison. “The wires were stuck on the police officer” is grounds for un-sticking the wires, not moving the weapon to/on the body making it look like he attacked the cop and tried to run off with the Tazer.
I know where you’re trying to go with this, and it don’t go there.
Cop should have left everything where it was, but he didn’t. There was no reason to move the Tazer.

We disagree. Taking the taser from his feet, moving it approx 50 feet to the body of the guy he shot in the back, and dropping it next to the body, then lying about it to his superiors, is a pretty hard thing to overcome. He would have been much better off if he had left everything where it was and told the truth about what happened before the video became known. He didn’t, so he will probably end up paying a heavy price.
Someone once said, its not the crime that is the problem, its the coverup.
