A police officer in the Dallas-Fort Worth area has been suspended after video footage emerged that shows him wrestle a bikini-clad girl to the ground and then point his gun at a group of unarmed teenagers.
The incident happened after McKinney Police Department received several calls on Friday night about a disturbance near the Craig Ranch North Community Pool.
Cell phone footage of the incident shows one officer arrive at the scene and start overreacting in a manner that does little to defuse the situation.

My primary concern is the cop seriously over reacted.
“I can tell you this, for sure though, since you decided to bring my family into this conversation: any offspring of mine who a) was trespassing and b) refused to leave when asked and then c) refused a police officer’s lawful demand to disperse and then d) resisted arrest would not need to worry about the police or the courts or any such wrist-slaps from officialdom. They would be far too worried about the wrath of Dad, which may well be one reason I never had to deal with any of that crap from any of my kids.”
Unless the cop shot then dead. Then they wouldn’t have to be worried about. Of course they would deserve it huh?
I mean talking back to a cop should be punishable by whatever means the cop feels is warranted.

We’re going to have to agree to disagree on this one — watching that video a couple of times the officer does not appear to me to be out of control, or crazy or any of the other adjectives that have been bandied about.
He raised his voice dealing with a bunch of recalcitrant, entitled, arrogant punks who were, after all, breaking the law. No excessive force, no attempt to prevent the recording of his actions, nothing that would suggest mens rea, zip.
The move that has gotten the most raised eyebrows seems to be that he responded to what appeared to me (and i’m guessing to him) an attempted lynching by, oh my gosh, drawing his pistol, and the subsequent arrest of that suspect as well. There may be more that comes out, but at this point, he’s guilty of the supreme crime of “doing his job”. Fire him, I say!
I watched the video. They were facing him, but backing away.
And calling them “ferals” based on a snippet of video?
They were facing him, but they were also backing away as quickly as they could. He was advancing toward them while they retreated, and then he pulled his gun on them.
You’re a drama queen.
Dude, he didn’t shoot anyone. He (lawfully, from all appearances) arrested a juvi after giving her multiple opportunities to simply walk away.
Seriously, in what way did he over-react? He told various individuals to sit down (which is SOP when you’re trying to sort out who’s who at a disturbance call like this), and told some other individuals to “move along”. For whatever reason, he decided to arrest that one girl (we don’t know that reason — you’ve speculated, but that it — mere speculation), and when she resisted, he used the minimally necessary force to effect the arrest, near as I can tell.
Once the voice of sweet reason fails, what then? Just walk away and let events play out their course? That’s not what cops get paid for, but that’s the message that is getting sent this past year or so.

None of the kids were charged with any crime.
They were released into their parents custody.
The city and the cop are probably not going to be as lucky.
Hell in the long run the cop probably did the girl a favor as she’ll get some serious bank out of this.

Well the faceplant in the ground while he had a handful of her hair sprang to my attention.
Also he told her to leave and she was leaving then he went after her.
Sorry but when I was 14 had a cop been screaming at me that same way I have no idea how I would have acted. You know being a terrified kid and all.
She’s 14. There wasn’t any rioting just a pretty typical group of high school kids wearing bathing suits.
Sorry but the cop lost his temper and escalated the whole thing he was the one running around and screaming obscenities at people.
A typical high school English teacher deals with situations like that every day.
This wasn’t in the Hood. It was in suburbia there weren’t any gang coolers, no weapons, just a pissed off raving cop who lost his temper.
You notice the other two cops weren’t acting like that.

First off, we don’t know if anyone was cited or not — the “reports” in the MSM have somehow managed to avoid mentioning that. But if a citation was issued, it would still be standard practice to release the little snot to his or her parents. So there’s that.
I don’t doubt that some ambulance-chasing lawyer will try to make some hay out of this, but it looks like pretty thin gruel at this point.
No excessive force, no injuries, nada. Not much to found a civil case on, unless there’s more that hasn’t come out yet.
Two easy points.
The officer didn't point the gun.
There's a logical difference between offensively pulling a gun and defensively pulling a gun.
I see no evidence on the tape that the juvi was “terrified” or that the officer had “lost his temper”.
I guess we see what we want to see.

No they haven’t avoided mentioning that. All the kids were released. One adult was arrested for interfering with a police officer.
And you’re wrong on the civil suit. The fact that the only kids being detained and screamed at were black and there were white kids there including the kid who shot the video and who stated that “The cops were only going after the blacks Mexicans and Arab kids, it was like I was invisible”
Some money is going to change hands and for the city it’s going to be a nightmare since their website touts what a great place it is and now because of one cops idiotic breach of professionalism is going to be the most hated place in America at least for a while.
Oh and the shot of the girl crying for somebody to call her mom after the cop threw her to the ground yeah that’s what rioters always do lol.

Similar example.
A guy breaks into your house.
You spot the guy and the guy immediately starts to back away.
You then unholster your gun without shooting him and without pointing it at him.
So What???
You act as if the cop shot somebody.
Says that guy that can dish it, but can’t take it.

Nothing wrong with being cautious and since you’re not a cop then it’s appropriate that you don’t deal with the public the same way as a cop should.
I just think escalating a situation like this where there are a lot of scared teenagers who were being rousted from a pool party was not the actions of a trained professional.
You mentioned an altercation when you were 13, these kids were 14-16 and being that it’s suburbia and the fact that they weren’t rioting, no throwing rocks no weapons, i’m not surprised they acted like they did when the cop started running back and forth screaming obscenities at them. I’m sure they were terrified.
I think the cop got over the line. I know I wouldnt want to be manhandled maced or shot because some idiot cop was pissed off and lost his temper but I’m not a teenager either so experience tells me to be calm myself.

Similar example? Haha. This was kids standing on a sidewalk who started forward when their friend got tossed and then started backing up.
They didn’t sneak up on the cop. He knew they were there. He also had 2 other cops that had his back because as soon as he drew the weapon they were right there.
