While this is a remote possibility, it could be that it is difficult to sell advertising on a show that features a guy that felt up his prepubescent sisters.

That’s apples and oranges. Advertisers don’t care about a show they no longer advertise on. If TLC can’t find advertisers or can make more money from another show, that I can understand. What I’m observing is a strangely punitive mentality from people with no dog in the fight.
