Apparently the drills they used were stolen from outside contractors working at the prison. All of the prison tools used by staff or prisoners are accounted for ...

“Clinton Correctional”.

= = = = = = = = = = = =

Oxymoron to be sure as ‘they’ definitely won’t be ‘correcting’ anything.

Clintons remind me of old James Cagney type

Probably named for DeWitt Clinton, not half-wit Clinton.

Probably indirectly named after DeWitt Clinton.

The prison is in Clinton County. Clinton County was named after DeWitt Clinton.

The prison was likely named after its location, Clinton County.

I had a similar experience years ago. Several inmates escaped from the prison across the river from my rural home. I was checking my property carrying a riot gun when a search helicopter flew over. They spotted me and came down for a closer look. I waved and smiled, they gave me a thumbs up, and resumed their search.

There was a riot at the prison in Jefferson City Missouri back in the 50s. Armed townspeople surrounded the prison walls in case inmates tried to escape.

Keep wondering how the escapees were able to use power tools on metal and concrete without getting the attention of everyone within a quarter mile.

Lots of places/things in NYS are named after DeWitt Clinton. For a generation, kids were named after him. My dad went to DeWitt Clinton HS in NYC @ 100 years ago.
