Written in 2011, but worth reading, especially if you have friends that pester you to join the Ayn Rand cult.

Ayn Rand Satanist? She’s just a mediocre writer who had some interesting ideas and a complete lack of character development.

Every woman was an empowered whore and every guy was either impotent or Captain Caveman.

ECO, good read. Thanks for posting. Many still do not understand how objectivism works, and so entertain the idea it reflects a healthy individualism. But the author is right. I wish however he had taken a paragraph or two spelling out the specifics.

Peace,

SR

But to be a follower of both Rand and Christ is not possible.

Absolutely false.

Startling number of strawman arguments and false premises in this pathetic screed.

But to be a follower of both Rand and Christ is not possible.

One does not need to be a "follower" of Rand to admire Atlas Shrugged as an amazing piece of predictive literature, detailing the inevitable outcomes of Liberalism, and how they turn a vibrant and healthy nation into an unproductive rabble under the heel of government hyper-intervention (along with some truly lame love scenes and FAR too much repetition of her central themes). This book does not prevent one in any way from being a Christian (unless you're the stupidest sort of Christian, who believes that using the force of government to enforce your beliefs is acceptable, and that Leftists are simply enforcing the wrong set of rules in their authoritarian abuses).

I have read and enjoyed the books of George Orwell, JRR Tolkien, Isaac Asimov, and many others. Heck, I've read, and even enjoyed, the feel-good nonsense of new-age buffoons. That does not make me a disciple of theirs, or their philosophies.

I also fail to see where there is an Objectivist movement of any kind growing anywhere on earth... and yet the author, and clearly some here, seem to need to make a strong stand against this non-existent group. Believe it or not, I am not a worshipper of the personal beliefs of Mr William Shakespeare, and yet I will post a partial quote of his here (shocking!!)... and those with a modicum of education will know the full quote and how it applies here... The author, Mr Carter, is clearly "full of sound and fury".

Not familiar with LaVey in the least but it would seem to me equating Satanism with Objectivism is a big a mistake as incorporating Social Justice into Christianity. While superficially similar an intelligent person would know better.

"Are we willing to be held responsible for pushing them to adopt an anti-Christian worldview? "

The author didn't even make a cursory attempt to substantiate his claims.

What a weird screed this is.

Ok.. so the author made an very large accusation..that Rand is satanic.. not just some errors in logic.. but satanic.......and then provided zero evidence or examples of even an error to back up the charge...

Satan is the slander.. yet if you make a charge but provide no evidence to back it up.. who is the slander?...

If you make a charge.. you need to make your case

God is a god of truth and reason..so provide it ...

I could make a better case against Rand then this.. it all accusations without evidence.

The author presents a false “Either - Or” argument. It is not “Either you are a Rand follower OR you are a Christian.”

A reasonable Christian can see the benefits of many of Rand’s positions and adhere to them without losing their Christianity. It’s called the middle ground.

The liberal media LOVES presenting the “Either-Or” type questions to conservatives. Ted Cruz is a master to flipping this around and throwing them right back into the face of the liberal puke reporter.

Rand's writings conveyed some good anti-collectivism, pro-market, and pro-individualism ideas. To agree with those ideas does not make me a 'follower' of Rand.

If Hitler had a line in Mein Kampf that read 'beer is yummy', I'd whole-heartedly agree with that. The article's author would probably then call me a Hitler follower.

Ayn Rand believed that sovereignty rests in the individual (as did our Founding Fathers) and that the ultimate expression of freedom can be found in the concept of “No”. In these areas, she is spot-on.

Ayn also understood the enemies of person freedom perfectly. I don’t know of anyone who painted the Progressive movement better or who could see the logical outcomes of that philosophy better than her.

I was initially enamored with Ayn’s “me for myself” individualism but I came to understand that at its core is excessive pride and hollow selfishness. Her philosophy is Satanic in that it places Man as God, answerable to no higher power. We’ve been down that road and it didn’t end well for humanity.

I would also point out that Rand’s characters never try to embrace the organs of power in their pursuit of excellence and achievement. She constructs a fantasy world where the superior, unfettered by any moral restraints other than being true to oneself, reject power in their pursuit of individual goals. Unfortunately, oligarchy is the inevitable outcome, proven by history, when Human nature develops its selfish motives, develops means, and creates its opportunity.

Even Ayn’s philosophy of the individual sovereignty has no objective basis in the absence of a creator-God.

Rand has a voice at the table of Philosophical discussion, but in the end, I rejected her selfish vision for the loving vision of Christianity.

Good. This is why I could not stay in the libertarian tent. They outwardly talk a ‘christian’ world-view, but they are not Christian in actuality. They talk conservative to please the conservatives, but often oppose christian values when it is time to vote. They vote way too often with the planks of the CPUSA, and as I began to ask questions, I saw that they are actually not conservative at all. I wish real conservatives could see this and stop listening the the rhetoric.

I realize that few republicans are really conservative, either, and I have actually written several letters to Reince Priebus, complaining about the fact that so many “republicans” do not even attempt to hold to the party’s stand on issues...even small government. That is the only issue I have in common with libertarians, really. Any Christians who vote libertarian need to really read up on the party’s ideology. And, not just listen to the politicos. You are not going to get the truth b/c they want your vote...are willing to reframe any speech to get the listeners to vote for them.

“For example, a person may claim that “life has meaning” and that “everything that exists is made of matter” even though the two claims are not compatible (unless “meaning” is made of matter). This take on the fallacy has long been committed by atheists. Now it appears to be growing in popularity among conservatives and Christians as well.”

Meaning is information and information is generally stored in and therefore at some level made of matter.

I clicked on this thread, read it, and knew there would be flood of libertarians coming, all of them in denial. Sure enough, they are here in force.

Thanks for the article. I’ve often wondered, with most libertarians so anti-Christian, many of them atheists, if there wasn’t a connection somewhere between Ayn Rand, their idol, and the anti-Christian atheist types.

Atheist anti-Christian Ayn Rand - Anton Levey and the Satanists - atheist anti-Christian libertarians. There you have it.

I’ve got about as much use for libertarians as I have for the devil. I’ll NEVER vote for one of ‘em.

I had to look this guy up because I had never heard of him.

I noticed that Wikipedia indicated among his influences were: John Milton, Mark Twain and Jack London

Will you condemn them with the same broad brush that you smear Ayn Rand? You are laughable, just a laughable fool. Ayn Rand opposed anything she regarded as mysticism or supernaturalism.

Your so called "Father of Modern Satanism", as such, could not be much of a follower if he founded a spiritualist religion.

I Googled Ayn Rand and Anton Levay and among links to your posting, came up with this little tidbit on a pagan blog.
The self professed witch writes:

" In truth, Satanism is likely more sympathetic to Christianity than Rand’s Objectivism, though neither jive with the teachings of Christ."

"It’s a running joke that the first thing a Pagan will say when asked to explain their religion is “We’re not Satanists” and perhaps we should toss in “We’re not Objectivists either!” Every Pagan religion I know of is antithetical to Objectivist and Satanist philosophy. We have taboos regarding hospitality, a strong belief in a deeply personal connection to Divine Forces, and we don’t believe a person’s worth is measured by their bank account or material possessions or their productivity. Many of us believe in tribal societal structures, which may include shared possessions and shared responsibility for children, the elderly and the sick."

My last observation is that past Grand Wizard of the KKK David Duke won an election to The Louisiana House of Representatives as a Republican. He is an anathema to Conservatives and Republicans yet the left will always regard him as our brother in the same way you link Ayn Rand and Anton Levay. This mendacious transgression will not stand.
