Ed Zschau for Senate??? One seat and all we had to do was accept baby-killing as normal for Republican candidates? No thanks! There are several non-negotiables out there: babies, guns, judges, among them. If we were to "accept" Ed Zschau and his enthusiasm for baby-killing, what are we?
You really had to reach back for that example. Zschau became the nominee for Senate against Alan Wimpy Cranston in 1986 and lost the election predictably. Voting for a Zschau IS throwing your vote away.
Before misusing Bill Buckley's quote, may I remind you that, with Bill's enthusiastic participation and that of Bill Rusher, National Review saw to it that Tricky Dick Nixon was challenged by the sainted Ohio Congressman John Ashbrook in the early primaries. Not much chance of successfully electing Ashbrook in 1972 but the effort was certainly worth it. I was involved in recruiting and deploying college volunteers in the New Hampshire primary.
I am ashamed to say that I voted for such trash as GOP nominees Nixon in 1968 and 1972, Ford in 1976, Bush the Elder in 1988 and 1992, Dole in 1996, McCain in 2008. I finally broke the lifelong bad habit of voting for unprincipled RINOs when the GOP nominated Mitt Romney (likely WORSE than Obozo) in 2012, choosing instead FR's own Eternal Vigilance.
Your last paragraph describes what is tragically wrong with GOP and its sheeple voters. You will settle for any old POS not labeled Demonrat. Good luck with that but I will never do it again.
BTW, losing the nomination of Judge Douglas Ginsburg, theb libertarian dope smoker, simply resulted in the nomination of Anthony (Sandra Day) O'Kennedy who waited a few years to become unreliable. Ginsburg continued to serve on the DC Court of Appeals and is now a Senior Judge. Note also that Douglas Ginsburg had clerked for none other than Thurgood Marshall at SCOTUS, certainly not without DoGood Marshall's approval.
Over the years you have proven yourself unworthy of serious discussion, and increasingly unhinged. Over and out.

Great point, and good post overall.
Norm and I joke about the fact that since last November, We are both batting 1,000 in regards to what our Republican House & Senate will say or do to America. Since November, the GOP in D.C. has given Obama 100% of what he wanted. 20 years of “turning the cheek” and voting for the “lesser evil” has now given us NOTHING but evil.
All of my adult life, I have voted for, and often worked for conservative candidates. I will make a disclosure here....
I voted for GHWB the first time, and almost immediately regretted it. I did NOT vote for him the second time.
I voted for GWB the first time, not the second.
I did not vote for McCain, who by the way openly campaigned for Obama during the POTUS race. Ever see a man openly endose his opponent before? McCain did just that
I did not vote for evil, scumbag Romney. How can anyone who claims to be a conservative vote for evil ? Sorry, I won’t do it. Not on a local or national election.
