Not a soccer fan, but I never understood why you’d hold the World Cup in a place where the temperature is over 120 degrees for many days in the summer. Who the hell would play in those conditions?

Plan was to play in November and December.

It wasn't the plan of the Qatar organizers. FIFA had to move the timing of the event after outcry from FIFPRO, which is in essence the international players' union, about playing in conditions which could kill players.

That in turn played hell with most major European club leagues, which don't take winter breaks and were faced with the prospect of losing their best players, since full international callups cannot be opposed by club teams.

Long story short: Qatar has no business at all hosting the World Cup for a variety of reasons -- weather being only one.
