One cannot divide that which was not one to begin with. Most of the GOP is not conservative. Ryan has long ago outed himself as not conservative when he sided with the illegal aliens and their employers in The Cheap Labor Express.
Thanks for the ping.
I pray we are smart enough to keep Paul far, far away from the POTUS seat.
But we sent in Romney and McCain so what hope can I possibly have?
LOL! Somebody had to post it. My personal favorite.
Like I said, it’s working.
Free trade agreements have done more to elevate American lifestyles than any protectionist measure ever passed, and will continue to do so.
And Congress has to approve any deal agreed upon. Want to go back to the 30’s? Erect protectionist barriers worldwide.
This is basic economics, no different than an electrician hiring a plumber to plumb his house while the plumber hires a cement guy to pour his driveway and the cement guy hires the electrician to wire his house. Everybody does what he’s best at and everyone is far better off. Want a “jack of all trades” economy, be against free trade. We’ll all be poorer for it, but hey, we’ll feel so proud of ourselves.
Warren: Obama Keeping Trade Deal Secret Because The Public Would Oppose It
Do you know why the public would oppose this "deal" if they knew the details?
Because it is unconstitutional, and hands over US sovereignty. It also gives Obama the powers of a dictator.
Today the Republican leadership will encourage the House and Senate to vote to pass the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) Initiative; the bill is known as Trade Promotion Authority or TPA no one has even seen thousands of pages of Obamas Secret Trade Bill now the Republican leadership is saying we will have to pass it to see what is in it. The Republican leaders are planning to give Obama Carte Blanche to enter into Fast-Track Trade Treaties in total secrecy eventually with future countries such as Cuba, Iran, China, Russia, etc., because Obama will be able to add other countries to this agreement, which is UNCONSTITUTIONAL; it short circuits the legislative process which requires a two thirds majority vote of the US Senate to approve Treaties. Republican leaders are planning to give Obama unprecedented power to curtail Congressional checks and balances on Treaties, even while they have been watching him for over six years, violate Federal Immigration Laws, the US Constitution, and Freedom of Religion for members of the US Armed Forces.
The TPA Bill has many damaging provisions, among them, it will
(1) allow millions of foreign workers to be given visas to enter the US at a time when 104 million Americans are unemployed
(2) open the way to import dangerous foods products that will negatively affect the health of unsuspecting Americans
(3) ship millions of American jobs overseas
(4) force the US to abide by UN and EPA business destructive unproven climate change regulations
(5) force the US to abide by the UNs Small Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) which was voted down by the US Senate and violates the 2nd Amendments provision that allows American citizens to purchase and sell their small arms
(6) it will force the US Congress to abide by every UN Treaty, undermining the sovereignty of the United States.
Not to mention the secret databases it allows to be set up on every American citizen.
Any "American" that hopes to profit from this abomination is no better than Judas, selling his soul for 30 pieces of silver.
As I understand it, this bill establishes the TPP as a trade initiative, one that, when finally agreed to by the countries party to it, would then have to be subjected to an up or down vote by Congress, without amendment. That’s how trade deals are structured, typically.
All of this wailing an moaning about what’s in it are irrelevant because this vote doesn’t pass the treaty itself, but only authorizes the fast track procedure, which is a formal procedure that dictates how the treaty will be handled by Congress once its details are hammered out.
At that point, if Congress votes it down, the treaty will not go into effect. All of this nonsense is nothing but bombast, and it’s coming hard and fast from liberals as well as conservatives.
Free trade is good for the world, and for the U.S., and Ryan is no traitor for working on the enabling legislation. That’s beyond silly.
Elaborating just a bit: The fast track authority, which is what the current bill is about, is being confused/conflated with the treaty itself, which has indeed been worked upon for years apparently. While the treaty might presently contain many provisions that various parties find highly objectionable, passage of fast track authority won’t authorize the treaty itself. It just assures the the final treaty will be subjected to an up or down vote in Congress.
