This “vivace” in 3/4 is about passing the second figure to the thumb three times in each bar in a dissonant arrangement. The pretty middle section in E Major is about reversing that maneuver.

This “allegro” in 4/4 is nicknamed the “Bee” etude. It’s an exercise for the right hand in both adjacent and chromatic fingering.
