Seems to me you’re dodging just a bit.
Do you really expect us to believe that you consider conservatives who vote pragmatically to be the cause of the country’s drift from its founding principles? That people who vote according to the reasoning of Bill Buckley and Sarah Palin are why we’re doomed? I don’t think you’re that dumb.
Just like everyone else you know the real reasons, which things like the erosion of religious faith, the failure to properly educate the younger generations in the the founding ideas, the loss of control over the culture to left, and of course the left itself and its hundred year march through our institutions and our society.
What sets you apart is that you look at all this and you conclude that we’re doomed. You see how easy it was for the left to seduce people and you think there’s no way we can recover. Too much lost ground, too deep into the abyss, the country is doomed.
So having given up on the country, you at least want the dwindling conservative remnant to remain politically pure as America slides off into its inevitable collapse. Frustrating this is the majority of conservatives who are willing to sacrifice purity in order to stave off disaster and keep the country in the game that you consider lost. That’s why your focus is on them, and not on the actual forces that oppose us.
It’s simple logic. Who votes for people like Bhoner, Romney and Mitch? They can’t win without the numbers conservatives give them. Right here on FR many self professed ‘conservative’ spout off with liberal ideas like ‘lesser evil’ and ‘no matter what’. Neither of those phrases, by definition is conservative. They are two very liberal concepts. Namely the idea that evil, actual evil is just perfectly OK if the circumstance benefits the speaker and that anything goes.
Can you find the conservatism in those ideas? Raping a child on TV if it ment stopping the dath of two would be a lesser evil. Would you do the honors? Yes? No? It’s a lesser evil so why is that hypothetical an unacceptable lesser evil but electing a guy that personally funds sticking a vacuum probe into a baby’s skull and sucking it’s brais out so you can get a better price on your house an acceptable lesser evil?
Thats what many did exactly. And as a result, they ended up moving the GOP left at a rapid pace. It wasn’t Ferals in Baltamore that did it. It wasn’t homos in the Bay that did it. It was ‘conservatives whose votes showed the GOP they yes, most of the base would in fact, vote for evil.
Then, many not only embraced the new normal, they went out and did it again with Mitch and Jonbon. And many that could not vote for them, being out of state, sat right here on FR screaming demands that they be elected in the face of them telling the base that if elected, they would work WITH Obama. Not oppose him. WORK WITH...WITH...Obama.
So who do you suppose is responsible for the decline in America? Is it people like me that fight and vote FOR conservatism or is it people like you that fight and vote FOR the liberalism that is shown daily to destroy it? Remember, it’s not Democrats that are to blame for the GOP going left. It’s you and those like you that back liberalism in the GOP.
