Proposed cutting $700M. Finally using the best power they have, the power of the purse.

Oh boy, the repubs are getting tough (satire ha ha). The "propose to do the cut" is about equivalent to "If you don't release the files you will make us mad". BFD.

I would say "Your funds are cut NOW, no excuses".

This is nothing more than a weak, limp wristed response to satisfy the masses, NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. If he were serious he would use the Tools CONGRESS HAS to FORCE THE ISSUE TODAY, Not Tomorrow by LOCKING THEM IN THE CONGRESSIONAL JAIL::

STOP MAKING EXCUSES, CONGRESS IS REFUSING TO DO THEIR JOB! They are just a COMPLICIT as every lying pos in the Administration. Because it all leads right back to the Leadership of BOTH PARTIES!

Congress has ALL the power in washington, the executive and judicial branch operate according to the whims of CONGRESS!

Congress can Remove the President
Congress can remove the head of every executive agency Congress can remove ALL of their employees
Congress can Abolish every agency they so choose
Congress can remove EVERY JUDGE IN AMERICA, including every supreme court justice.
Congress can abolish every federal court except the supreme Court
Congress can decide which cases the Judicial Branch can hear and decide
CONGRESS can Imprison ANYONE they want for any reason they so desire for as long as they wish.
Congress can declare WAR

No other governing body has even 10% of the power CONGRESS has!!

CONGRESS IS ALLOWING ALL OF IT!!!

Congress has the authority to arrest and imprison those found in Contempt. The power extends throughout the United States and is an inherent power (does not depend upon legislated act)

If found in Contempt the person can be arrested under a warrant of the Speaker of the House of Representatives or President of the Senate, by the respective Sergeant at Arms.

Statutory criminal contempt is an alternative to inherent contempt.

Under the inherent contempt power Congress may imprison a person for a specific period of time or an indefinite period of time, except a person imprisoned by the House of Representatives may not be imprisoned beyond adjournment of a session of Congress.

Imprisonment may be coercive or punitive.

Why not cut the 1/2 White House budget too? That’s where the orders emanate. Cut it down to 1 cent on the premise that the whole group as they stand are not worth 2 cents.

I know it is fashionable to be cynical on FR, but what HOUSE power (Gowdy is a member of the House) will get the fastest response?

By proposing to cut $700M NOW, they will get a reaction from the State department NOW, and get results NOW so that Hillary Clinton goes to jail before she can become POTUS.

If the House wants to involve the Senate to put these criminals in jail or remove them from office, perhaps they can conduct trials/hearings and will get results in about a year and a half. Perhaps then, after another year and a half, CONGERESS can use their power to impeach President Clinton. Then we get President Julian Castro.

The House doesn’t need the Senate, they have their own “Inherent” Power to lock up ANYONE THEY PLEASE, for ANY REASON THEY WISH, it merely requires a Warrant to be SIGNED BY BONEHEAD, The Speaker, then The Sargent At Arms ENFORCES it and ARRESTS them. End of Story and Game.

You need to read closely at my post, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT BEFORE THE CONGRESS, the Only right you have before Congress is to ANSWER THEIR QUESTIONS, They Can LOCK YOU UP FOR REFUSING and the HOUSE can hold you until the current session expires, the Senate can hold you FOREVER.

I got $10 that says it's nothing more than kabuki theater, and that, in the end, budgets will be increased and the House will still have the same amount of info they have now. I'll send that $10 to Jim as an additional donation to FR if I'm wrong.

What a joke.

How many years? Still nothing?

Dead people.

No answers.

Heck, no decent questions.

Trey Gowdy is a tool of the Uniparty protection racket.

That is a good take on the subject. I believe they should cut all the funding for the Mooch’s upcoming Europe trip along with a few hundred deadbeat friends.

I am so turned off by the GOP. I may not vote. I am sick of their “go along get along” and I am just really close to going fishing.

First news of this posted on FR before Shortly after 9 AM. As of almost 9 PM, there are under 40 posts on two threads combined.

I think that shows just how much faith people have in “Lesser Evil” being the proper course of action even if they refuse to speak against it openly.

As always, actions speak louder than words.

For “Congress” to accomplish most if the actions that you enumerated, you would need the requisite majority vote of the members. There exists so much partisan bickering and protectionism that gridlock reigns supreme. To realistically say that Congress has the power... is wishful dreaming. Congresspersons care first about themselves, not about what is best for the United States.
