A few points here:

~Stanford University is commonly referred to as
“the farm”

~The Santa Clara Valley was one of the richest
agricultural areas on the continent before it
was mostly paved over.

~If you look hard you can still find small
parcels where products like strawberries are
grown in the area.

~Some ‘gentlemen farmers’ live in town and commute
to their small farms in more rural areas.
