A woman was under arrest Friday, accused of murder for striking and running over a motorcyclist on a busy San Diego highway at rush hour.
Imperial Beach resident Darla Renee Jackson, 26, was driving a black Nissan Altima northbound on Interstate 5 near E Street in Chula Vista at around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers said Jackson and a man on a red Ducati motorcycle got into some type of disagreement on the roadway.
After the two drivers transitioned from I-5 to eastbound State Route 54 and passed National City Boulevard, Jackson hit the Ducati from behind and ran over the rider, CHP officers said.

This thread is about a defender of this nation who was murdered. It should remain that.
Lane splitting in CA has always been tolerated, and is about to be formally made legal. The LE community fully supports the move. There is a restriction that the bikes can't be going more than 15 mph above traffic, however.
Active Duty ping.
RIP Chief.
According to what they posted on the Waco threads, a lot of the members of this forum also believe that it is or should be open season on motorcycle riders.
Agree.
I cant imagine any rider doing so.

Now, back to the thread....
It was de facto legal as there was no prohibition against more than one vehicle per lane. Squidly riding would get a reckless citation, just moving through traffic to avoid becoming a meat sandwich would not.
CHP and city cops do it routinely.

Small minded people are everywhere; even here on FR sadly.
I agree with the person who said let’s keep this about the hero who lost his life needlessly after getting rammed then run over by a lunatic driver.
May she spend the next 20 years rotting in a prison somewhere thinking about what a useless person she is.
I was splitting lanes one day during rush hour trying to get through LA. I had been living in the land of fruits and nuts for some time at that time and had gotten very proficient at splitting lanes. At least I thought so. I checked my rear view and saw this CHP motor cop coming up on me fast so I moved over to either let him pull me over or go by depending on what he wanted.
He went on by so I figured this would be a fun time to get through traffic quick. Nope. I couldn’t keep up even with the skills I had at the time. He was really moving through traffic and he does this all day long.
I gained a lot of respect for motor cops that day.
The only reason lane splitting is tolerated is because cops do it everyday. Kinda hard to arrest someone for doing what is common practice by the PD’s.
Glad to see they want to make it an official law allowing it. I would like to see it spread across the nation and I usually don’t like what laws they enact in CA these days.
I always give bikes a bunch of room - even at the stop lights as a sign of respect - and that I recognize that they are vulnerable.
I didn’t know this “brake check” was a thing. One more reason to give them some room. I love that video - the driver of the car checking out his bumper!
Kinda hard to arrest someone for doing what is common practice by the PDs.
You cannot be serious.

Same here. I do all I can to keep an eye out for them and give them room.
well, My FRiend, there are people that believe the World operates for their benefit. She is probably one of them. I often encounter them on the road. I just pull over and let them go.
Now back to the topic which is the murder of an American serviceman.
“Kinda hard to arrest someone for doing what is common practice by the PDs.”
So I can shoot my neighbors dog then?
L
I said I can't imagine any rider doing it.
Now you can.
You should read some of the comments on threads involving bicycle riders, especially the more serious ones that wear spandex pro cycling stuff.
Lots of members revel in fantasies of using their pickups to sweep them off the road and out of their way.
Really? What a terrible move.
Pat yourself on the back.
Why can't we just shoot them?
