Alexandrov, 28, says he's a Russian soldier who was captured in eastern Ukraine after being sent there on active duty with Russian special forces to help separatists fighting Kiev.

He said he was serving on a three-year contract.

"I never tore it up, I wrote no resignation request," he said. "I was carrying out my orders."

Yet Russian President Vladimir Putin, in the face of widespread evidence to the contrary, has repeatedly said there are no Russian soldiers in Ukraine — only volunteers who have gone to help the separatists of their own accord.

Russian Military reform activists have always stated it has never been easy to pry information out of the Russian Army, even about accidental deaths or suicides of conscripts during peacetime.... Disclosing war casualties has always been strictly illegal.

Should we then post all the Ukrainian soldiers who have run to Russia so they don’t have to continue to serve...or escape serving altogether? I think not....

This Ukraine war as been downsized now being called to a low-level conflict....so Minisk has worked to stop the heavy blood flow previously.....both sides have their hands in this pie militarily and otherwise. All claiming, from Nato to the Us to Russia and other nations assisting, they are their simply equipping and training their prospect side so they say.

WOW!!! [More links at URL] The Hasty Withdrawal of Russian Special Forces from Luhansk Linked to the Threat of Rebellion, According to the Source Close to the 3rd Spetsnaz Brigade May 23, 2015 Бунт New details about the hurried withdrawal of Russian Special Forces troops from the 3rd Guards Spetsnaz Brigade, military unit 21208 from Tolyatti, became available from the Ukrainian counter-espionage office, and information leaked in specialized forums. After the capture on May 16, 2015, in Luhansk Oblast of two Russian Spetsnaz troops, Captain Erofeev and Sergeant Aleksandrov, their unit was immediately withdrawn from a temporary base in occupied territory and hastily transferred from Millerovo airfield in Rostov Oblast to their home base in the Russian city of Tolyatti. Previously, it was assumed that such a hasty withdrawal happened because of the disclosure of information on the size, location, and mission of the Russian reconnaissance unit, but the real reasons were much more serious. A former serviceman of the 3rd Spetsnaz Brigade, close to military personnel of the brigade, told the story on condition of anonymity. After detailed analysis and verification of the information, we decided to make it public. The details of failure, or the THREAT OF REBELLION Upon arrival at home base, the troops returning from the “Ukrainian assignment” were quartered in separate barracks. Almost all cell phones and other electronic gadgets were taken from them. All attempts were taken to isolate them and prevent any contact with their comrades, family, and friends. On the same day, a group of representatives from the Russian Defense Ministry and people in plain clothes arrived in Tolyatti. A wave of discontent and indignation arose among enlisted personnel and junior commissioned officers due to the fact that the State, in particular, the command of the Defense Ministry, gave up on their comrades. The greatest outrage was provoked by a statement that the captured in Ukraine servicemen were supposedly discharged before their assignment, and a campaign to discredit them by the Russian government began, involving members of their families. The command of the brigade and high-ranking officials from General Staff became very concerned with the low level of morale and dissension among the brigade’s personnel. Immediately, identification of the disgruntled and disillusioned began. The rumors of a possible disbandment of the unit, in which the captured soldiers served, spread quickly. The growing discontent among soldiers and junior officers forced the command to voice another, milder version of the future of the unit. The remaining personnel of the failed group will be dispersed among other units of the brigade. Those who wish to leave military service will be given that opportunity under certain conditions, such as signing a non-disclosure agreement and a temporary ban on travel abroad. “Sanctions” are also expected against commanders who led the reconnaissance and diversionary units and groups during the assignment. At the very least, they may be transferred to other, less prestigious locations; and in the worst case scenario, they can be eliminated, depending on further developments. Most of the soldiers of the brigade, in spite of their discontent, realize that they are powerless before their command and will not be able to assert their rights, since according to the official version of the Russian Federation, they have not been in Ukraine (although there are orders to send them on the mission to Ukraine with their names listed in the Brigade headquarters). They also realize that they followed illegal orders being in the territory of another sovereign state illegally.

My good friend Maj. Shawn Mel, [on the internet] (now deceased for three years) told me about Russian troops who would walk across the compound to salute American officers in Bosnia, when they didn’t have to salute. Spetznas and Interior troops would walk an extra 100’ to ask if there was anything they could do for American officers. I guess ALL troops like to be appreciated for their efforts. Unlike the communists.

Since when do special forces surrender? Since when do they state they were only following orders that they still have, when they know ahead they are doing clandestine work?

Do our guys do this, yet?

And you think Obama cares about our military aside from giving it lip service, and even that he does badly right along with his wife.

Everybody knows just what Putin is about so this isn't news we haven't heard before....as you say the same Putin he's always been.

But the fact of the matter is the man has been able to secure his position and as much the people of Russia are still favoring him regardless of the sanctions etc. or how he's achieved that. Which makes him powerful.

Furthermore Poroshenko, the Us and Nato are still treating him as an International Power....their actions speak louder then the words they're heaping out to the media...Kerry meeting with Lavrov about Iran....Cameron, Merkle and other European nations also meeting with Putin to ask his “help” regarding Syria, Isis and Iraq.......so Putin remains a central figure in International Affairs.

Putin would not have accomplished these things without Obama playing his hands so terribly and without any regard for the outcome of his decisions. He’s determined to have an Iran deal as he leaves office no matter the mess he leaves behind him on the world Stage.

So who really has accomplishments on the world stage as far as his people and his nation...Putin is still further ahead as the ruble has stabilized even though the nation itself is still shaky...so aren't most nations in Europe and we sure aren't on solid footing either.

LOL, America’s government does care about our GIs, Russia’s doesn’t, and never has, it is the nature of your monsters.

You support the wrong side.

I'm not on any body's side regarding Ukraine and have said so from the get go so your spitting into the wind...at best it would be with the Ukraine people in the East who believe they have the right to govern themselves apart from Kiev.

As for you believing this administration cares about our Military....ha! Not when Obama frees known Islamic killers and does deals like this with no push back...

Or this...

And this

Well, half true, you are not on America’s side.

You are so anti-American that you think that our government doesn’t care about our GI’s as you defend the Russian government who actually doesn’t care about their military people.

You have to be pretty twisted (and ignorant) to compare our literal obsession with our troops and their safety and their lives, versus the Russian treatment of theirs as mere meat to be used casually and their lives wasted.

That's just nonsense talking...sheesh...

I don't consider Obama American nor most of his administration...has nothing to do with what I think about our country...has everything to do with how he's our my country.

It does seem fruitless having reasonable conversation with you so best this ends yet again.

I supported America and NATO against the Russians and Putin before Obama, during Obama, and I will after he leaves in 20 months.

I would never be a pro-Russian traitor.

I especially wouldn’t try to say that I am doing it, because of who are current president is.
