I had to think back to the laughably outrageous act Bill Clinton pulled for the cameras when he was forced to visit Normany Beach on the anniversary of D-Day. As has been documented, his staff went up the cliff and brought-back a large handful of small stones, which they tossed along the prearranged path that Clinton would walk “in silent contemplation” along the beach, with 100 cameras watching. Clinton dutifully stopped at the cache of stones, looked silently for a minute, and then knelt “in somber reflection” as he slowly arranged the stones into a cross before slowly walking on, lip bitten and tear forming.
