Senator Cruz does support a flat tax on income, which I understand will never enable We the People to abolish the IRS.

I am very much more in favor of the tax on purchases, but I think we need a compromise at something less than 18%. That seems a bit much.

Senator Cruz is a co-sponsor of the FairTax Act, S.155. It is a 23% consumption tax, levied at the point of retail sale. The IRS is defunded as of 2019, IIRC.
