“People have too many choices” is the catchphrase of an anti-freedom authoritarian. This is the reason socialism nearly always ends up in a police state. Somebody has to be in charge of making those choices and, well, what do you know? It’s them!
People don’t realize that the proliferation of those choices is exactly what IS keeping a vast swath of our population out of poverty/starvation, and what IS paying for those government programs.
Sure, nobody “needs” the vast choice of [begin random example subject dear to me at the moment] watches that’s available - especially something as gloriously ludicrous as a $20,000 Apple Watch Edition (just the gold version of the bottom-end $400 Sport model, which in turn allegedly replaces a $4 el-cheapo watch that tells time just fine). But those stupid-expensive versions ARE selling, and when someone buys one the government gets at least $7,400 out of the deal. But apply the “too many choices” rhetoric, and Bernie’s socialist government nets $1 in taxes.
