“On a boat full of Navy only, the rumor mill always had a kernel of fact at the core.”

That must be why the Saudi Government gave each of us 10,000 dollars ,,, Aussie supermodels grabbed me as I stepped off the gangplank wanting me to screw them for two days, happy not to know my name,,, and why we went helocasting from a C-130 ramp at 80 knots and 30 feet.

Scuttlebutt had some truly fantastic stories, not always based on a kernel of truth.

Geez. Your examples are obviously tall tales, although the Aussie one is based in fact from WW2 when the US submarine crews were based in Freemantle and Perth and all the Aussie men were gone.

I’m talking about rumors that make sense, such as “I don’t think that we are getting our port call in Perth” coming from a QM who was just told to not bother marking up the charts for the boat’s transit of Perth harbor.

Kernel of truth. Not confirmed by the command. Technically a rumor, but just wait a few days for the announcement.
