Prior to 1860 the federal government was funded almost entirely by import tariffs and by sale of public lands, with a few minor excise taxes.

I’m not asking you to quote large segments of the Constitution or federal law, simply the commerce clause you claim was modified in 1830 to allow export tariffs.

I suspect what you done is garbled an account of the Tariff of Abominations.

Not the first Lost Cause neo reb I have seen that deeply believes that the south paid all the taxes back then through "export tariffs'. The crap they read intentionally confounds the difference between exports and imports to somehow make tariffs the cause for the war. Part of the Big Lie they have bought into.
