Whether it was rape, inappropriate touching, exhibitionism or obscene phone calls, even without physical violence if these victims are not adequately supported by their parents there are going to be emotional consequences. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if these girls are still anxious and depressed and these experiences have affected every aspect of their self-esteem and social competence. Very very sad.
My heart goes out to the Duggar girls, too. I watched the very first episode out of curiosity — a couple raising 14 children and living in a 2000 square foot house. I was appalled that the older girls had so much responsibility thrust upon them — cooking, cleaning, laundry (even making soap), child care and later, homeschooling. Michelle stated that when the latest baby was “weaned”, he/she was assigned a “buddy” that looked after them. Chores are one thing, but these poor girls were raising their siblings and had no childhood themselves. I always wondered what Michelle did all day, since the older girls seemed to do everything around the house. Now, these revelations about Josh. I hope his wife is keeping her children safe. Prayers all around for this family.
Yes, of course it’s good to teach modesty. But in the Duggars’ cult-faith, the girls are taught to do so to remove responsibility from the boys for being “tempted.” Islam teaches the same concept.
I’ve been doing a bit of reading, and it seems Josh forcibly fondled the privates of a girl who was unrelated to the family, and who was sleeping over at their house. The girl told her father, who took it to the elders of the church. The elders, including the Duggar dad, “disciplined” Josh, but they also put part of the blame on the girl for wearing a blouse that was too tight.
Still a good reminder to those who hearken back to the good old days when families were intact and morally superiorleading to a better overall societyare, at best, misinformed.
I understand, Jonty.
Condemn all perversion. Including homosexuality. Yes cancel the show but I don’t want to see the homosexuals on TV either.
Yeah, Amy had a hard shell.
Unsanitary long hair?? The girls’ hair looked clean, and lovely, to me.
