Ted Cruz is using Chuck Hagel to destroy Chuck Hagel. This is brilliant. #Hagel
— Stephen Miller (@redsteeze) January 31, 2013
Ted Cruz just pummeled Chuck Hagel…
— NoSoup4u (@gstokes13) January 31, 2013
Indeed. Senator Cruz continued his streak of awesome during his questioning of Chuck Hagel at his Secretary of Defense hearing.
Ted Cruz notes that Hagel hasn’t been transparent and cooperative with the committee.
— Philip Klein (@philipaklein) January 31, 2013
Cruz hits Hagel for lack of disclosure on speeches — transcripts, who paid him, where the money come from.
— Andrew Stiles (@AndrewStilesNRO) January 31, 2013
Senator Ted Cruz is smacking Hagel for agreeing with the statement, “The US is the World’s Bully” on al Jazeera.
— Nice Deb (@NiceDeb) January 31, 2013
Cruz: Has Israel committed war crimes? Hagel: “No, but… No I do not.”
— Andrew Stiles (@AndrewStilesNRO) January 31, 2013
Ted Cruz: Do you think it’s appropriate for the US SecDef to agree the US is “*the* world’s bully,” like you did, Sen. hagel?
— InnocuousPicGuy69 (@AceofSpadesHQ) January 31, 2013
Good Lord, Hagel agreed the US was “the world’s bully” on Al Jazeera.
— InnocuousPicGuy69 (@AceofSpadesHQ) January 31, 2013
After he got Cruzed (yeah I’m going to make that a thing) Hagel is even slower and more stumbling.
— DrewM (@DrewMTips) January 31, 2013
Cruzed! Make it happen, people.
Observation: Senator Cruz’s questioning of Hagel received decidedly mixed reviews.
— Andrew Stiles (@AndrewStilesNRO) January 31, 2013
Yes, some didn’t like Senator Cruz’s epic drubbing. Guess who? That’s right; Media lapdogs. Or, as Ace of Spades calls them “the Left’s rescue efforts.” How dare Senator Cruz question Hagel about statements he made, or with which he agreed?
RT @amandacarpenter: Here is the clip of Hagel’s appearance on Al Jazeera @sentedcruz played at the hearing today bit.ly/XMfoLE
— Brian Faughnan (@BrianFaughnan) January 31, 2013
Callers and stuff don’t count. Or something!
RT @daveweigel: God help me if I’m ever judged by how I respond to a C-Span caller.
— Sam Stein (@samsteinhp) January 31, 2013
@daveweigel I’ve been on CSPAN dozens of times since 1982 and I’ve had horrible things said in questions and I’ve objected. Every time.
— John Podhoretz (@jpodhoretz) January 31, 2013
as u see from RTs of @jpodhoretz, left’s Rescue Effort is saying “all he did was accept the premise, he didn’t offer the premise himself”
— InnocuousPicGuy69 (@AceofSpadesHQ) January 31, 2013
And then Chuck Todd donned his head cheerleader outfit.
@chucktodd TO THE RESCUE!! twitter.com/chucktodd/stat…
— S.M (@redsteeze) January 31, 2013
Imagine if C-SPAN caller opinions were regularly used against politicians when they choose to ignore and answer what they want.
— Chuck Todd (@chucktodd) January 31, 2013
Callers and emails? Seriously? C-SPAN Washington Journal producers just panicked that no elected pol will ever come on again
— Chuck Todd (@chucktodd) January 31, 2013
Ted Cruz going all @meetthepress on Hagel, he brought a clip
— Chuck Todd (@chucktodd) January 31, 2013
Anybody who has ever been on a show that takes callers or emailers knows you try to ignore the crazy and respect a show’s format.
— Chuck Todd (@chucktodd) January 31, 2013
what someone says in an interview in a book, speech etc. total fair game but judging on responses to crazy callers/emailers, come on
— Chuck Todd (@chucktodd) January 31, 2013
One thing is clear, Ted Cruz knows how to get attention. He may at the bottom on seniority, but he made the most of his 5 mins
— Chuck Todd (@chucktodd) January 31, 2013
He then retweeted this:
Sigh. Twitter users rightly call out lapdog Todd.
@chucktodd You keep saying that Hagel ignored callers. But he didn’t. He agreed with them affirmatively.
— Philip Klein (@philipaklein) January 31, 2013
@philipaklein I’m not trying to defend Hagel on this; just think going down the road of crazy callers/emailers is slippery slope
— Chuck Todd (@chucktodd) January 31, 2013
@chucktodd how is msnbc going to save #Hagel ? You know obama is on the phone with msnbc now going over the proper editing and spin
— Aaron (@adstout) January 31, 2013
For somebody not trying to defend Hagel, @chucktodd sure is working hard to defend Hagel. MT @chucktodd: I’m not trying to defend Hagel
— Schindel (@BartigerHoosier) January 31, 2013
@chucktodd So you misstate your position on national television in order to appease a show’s format. That sounds virtuous.
— Sunny (@sunnyright) January 31, 2013
Boom! Then MSNBC’s Chris Hayes weighs in, pom-poms at the ready.
This is bottom of the barrel stuff from Ted Cruz: playing Al Jazeera random caller asking Hagel a question.
— Christopher Hayes (@chrislhayes) January 31, 2013
@chrislhayes Well, good for you. But even if u think Cruz was unfair, do you not agree that there’s a distinction b/w ignoring & agreeing?
— Philip Klein (@philipaklein) January 31, 2013
@chrislhayes Yes, how dare Ted Cruz use Chuck Hagel’s own refusal to rebut a ridiculous premise against him. An outrage! #clownmedia
— Paul Zummo (@PaulZummo) January 31, 2013
Seamus RT @chrislhayesThis is bottom of the barrel stuff from Ted Cruz: playing Al Jazeera random caller asking Hagel a question.
— S.M (@redsteeze) January 31, 2013
Zing!
RT @philipaklein: Remember when media attacked Santorum for not correcting questioner who said Obama was a Muslim? abcn.ws/Ju4XY5
— Ben Domenech (@bdomenech) January 31, 2013
Yes, but Obama doesn’t like him!
Those not blinded by Obama cheerleading have a much different take.
Senators Graham and Cruz deserve our utmost gratitude for standing tall in questioning Chuck Hagel for SOD. They asked the right questions!
— Sounding Aloud (@teachdance4u) January 31, 2013
Watching Chuck Hagel bumble around, not answer questions and be grilled by Cruz and McCain is quite entertaining. #tcot
— Kevin McKeever (@bankofkev) January 31, 2013
Sen. Cruz hammered #Hagel Sen. Levin tried to mitigate – not working.. .
— Ray H. Jenkins (@RayHJenkins) January 31, 2013
Sorry I missed @tedcruz carving up Chuck Hagel on TV like a roast.
— Erick Erickson (@EWErickson) January 31, 2013
Related to Hagel confirmation hearings: Ted Cruz rocks.
— Ken Gardner (@kesgardner) January 31, 2013
Only thing left is for Ted Cruz is to hold up Hagel’s severed head.
— DrewM (@DrewMTips) January 31, 2013
Now Ted Cruz is demolishing him.
— InnocuousPicGuy69 (@AceofSpadesHQ) January 31, 2013
Hagel should just yell WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE to rally his supporters. Worked for Hillary. This is just brutal.
— Seth Mandel (@SethAMandel) January 31, 2013
Cruz is hammering Hagel even better than Graham.
— Landon(@OrwellForce) January 31, 2013
Ace of Spades then puts it all in a nutshell.
I’m less curious whether Hagel is qualified to be SecDef than I am if he’s qualified to be Asst. Manger at the Scottsdale Mall Foot Locker
— InnocuousPicGuy69 (@AceofSpadesHQ) January 31, 2013
Bingo. Also summed up? Media lapdogs.
You can tell @chucktodd and the media are objective by the way they reflexively spin on behalf of a catastrophic nomination hearing
— InnocuousPicGuy69 (@AceofSpadesHQ) January 31, 2013
I mean, that’s what “objective” people do — they immediately claim that what you clearly saw with your own eyes didn’t happen
— InnocuousPicGuy69 (@AceofSpadesHQ) January 31, 2013
@aceofspadeshq Hey, remember that time Trent Lott said “good observation Strom” and the MSM was all “don’t sweat it Trent”? Me neither.
— David Ringelman (@bimbim1) January 31, 2013
Look at all the Democrat Media Complex lemmings fact checking Cruz instead of Hagel. Isn’t it adorable? #StateRunMedia
— RB (@RBPundit) January 31, 2013
Keep exposing yourselves, media lapdogs.
Update: Video!

Lawyering 101.....Never ask a question to which you don’t already know the answer . (Ref: Anatomy of a Murder Barney Quill was her father)
Cruz is the only guy who is willing to destroy Hillary Clinton with the facts in a debate. He doesn’t care if she is a woman.
No doubt he would shred her in mere seconds in a debate, and he wouldn’t treat her with kid gloves. Frankly, she needs to be schooled, politically speaking, and Ted would certainly do a number on Shrillary in the presidential debates.
Cruz is the only guy who is willing to destroy Hillary Clinton with the facts in a debate. He doesnt care if she is a woman.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________-
Cruz is the only male, willing and able to destroy Hillary, but it’s pretty well substantiated that Carly Fiorina has been the biggest attack dog on Hillary. She can get away with it because she’s a woman.
I’m worried that that FOX News hosted debate will somehow exclude Cruz. I think FOX will manipulate the results of their polling to determine who is in the top ten and therefore invited to the debate. I don’t trust those avid Jeb supporters.
That’s what worries me about Scott Walker. He comes across as a meek, easy going guy. Someone help me out here: If he is the nominee, would he have the tenacity to go after Thunder Thighs in a Debate like Cruz can? I hope so, and, he could surprise all of us. He could be Clark Kent coming out of the Phone Booth as Superman.
I’m thinking your fears are unfounded, dandiegirl. Whatever their faults may be, and there are quite a few, they are NOT stupid. They know that the type of people who keep FOX #1 in the ratings are people who support the likes of Ted Cruz. They would drop lower than MSNBC if they tried to pull that. No worries.
Frankly, I think Jeb is already toast. The two RINOS we need to keep our eyes on are Rand Paul and Marco Rubio. As for FOX excluding Cruz I don’t think you need to worry about that. He’s easily in the top tier of candidates, and no poll can be manipulated enough to hide that fact.
What is impressive, among other things, is how in the first few minutes he rattles off a long series of Hagel’s failures to disclose his record of speeches and related financial information, and he does this while maintaining direct eye contact with Hagel throughout. I conclude from this and other factors he must have a remarkable memory, coupled with the rock solid personal confidence to wield it like an intuitive minja.
My dad used to tell me about studies he had heard of when he was getting his masters in education at the University of Chicago. One of those studies was about gifted individuals, how each in his respective area had surprising abilities that correlated directly to their professional success.
For example, if I remember correctly (and my memory is nowhere as good as that of Cruz), He said that Jack Dempsey could catch a fly in flight between his thumb and index finger ... without killing it. And that Babe Ruth could read the label of a vinyl record spinning at 78 rpm. Babe is also said to have been able to read the position of the stiches on the ball, and so strike for maximum effect.
So I think if you have someone who has accomplished as much as Cruz, you are looking at a person who has more that just the “right beliefs.” You’re looking at someone uniquely gifted to put those beliefs to work and knock the ball out of the park in the real world. I like some of the other contenders. But if we want someone in there who has both the beliefs *and* the raw talent necessary to really derail the left, I see no alternative to Cruz.
Peace,
SR
Argh! “minja” should be “ninja.” Sigh.
How do you feel about Cruz voting for cloture on the trade bill yesterday? I’m curious. I was very troubled by it. I still don’t get why he did it. I’ve been cheerleading for the guy all along and now this.
I figured minja was an extra small assassin. ;-P
That’s one of the things that worries me about Walker. He’s too meek and mild. I’m afraid that he and his administration won’t defend their positions in a strong and forceful way. Similiar to the Bush administration. They didn’t fight back. They just sat back and took the criticism from their opponents. That passivity demoralized the base and was a hindrance to other Republicans seeking office.
That being said, I hope our nominee is either Cruz or Walker.
I agree. Jeb is toast. The more people see of him, the worse he does, much like Hillary.
When I see Scott Walker, I see Mr. Rogers with a bit of a dark side. His fights are about self preservation, not about policy. If you really look at where he stands on issues, he’s very weak on immigration and scial issues.
Yes, well, according to the online “urban dictionary,” that’s exactly what it means. Learn something new every day. :)
One thing that Cruz has made me realize is that the MSM is not some sort of indestructible force that can never be conquered and taint conservatives with a wave of their hand. Ted Cruz calls them out on their BS and he dismantles them, do any of our other candidates do this as well as he does? The answer is no, that’s just one reason why I am strongly supporting this man for the Presidency, I’m tired of the old go along to get along republicans.
Walker to me is a dull candidate. Kudos to beating the unions and winning reelection numerous times, but he doesn’t stand up to the line and GOPE like Cruz does.
