Hmm.. What happ’n to auxiliary power? These things have more than one way to skirt a reef.

I bet they had a failure in the AZIPOD propulsion system.
That can happen without a power loss.
Azipods are what the new ships use now.
They save about 10% on fuel. -Tom

Heck - they're saving 90% now!

I happened to click on some show about “Engineering Disasters” and it had some cruise ship with an engine room fire that knocked out ALL power. I'm surprised that their aren't redundant systems located at various points of the ship. I suppose a redundant propulsion system would be pretty difficult though.

How about having some sewing machines onboard to stitch all the bedsheets together, and hang a rudder off the stern!
