Unfortunately that ‘IS’ the World we live in at every level...not just the police dept’s...but politics, corporations, businesses, the educational system. etc. etc. Corruption is everywhere in one form or another.
Cops are not social workers, nor psychiatrists....they're cops and they go after criminals....they are trained to do so regardless of how we want to perceive their jobs, or in what circumstances. Additionally they know a whole lot more about the thugs etc. on the streets than we do in an event that makes the press....and suddenly everyone wants to know if the police were "fair" or not. I honestly don't look at police to be fair...I expect them to do the job they have to do...and if someone gets his toes stepped on while they're doing so then too bad.
Well, the cops go after criminals, unless the criminals are of The Owners Class, like Hillary Clinton or Lois Lerner, who both committed a truckload of felonies...
Of course, I understand that arresting either of those two would make one "fear for one's pension"...
