Ok. After looking at more pics, it appears that the engine was on it’s side a some point. That would explain the damage to me. I haven’t seen any pics of it on it’s side. Was it uprighted by work crews, or did it unpright itself or was it pushed upright by other cars when coming to a stop?

It appears the engine struck or sideswiped and steel support for a steel overhead structure, not rolled on it’s side then up-righted when derailed. The steel I-beams seem to be all over the crash area.
