This is Navy SEAL Sr. Chief Mike Day post being wounded 27 times.
This is Mike Day, another local Seal who is helping us out with fund-raising for The Crossing of America campaign. On May 3rd, Mike was at the Spirit Of Liberty Foundation in San Diego doing television interviews and discussing Crossing of America as well as the recent activity with Osama Bin Laden. Mike will be driving our replica of the Spirit of Liberty Jeep everywhere he goes in Hampton Roads! Learn a little more about Mike Day by reading his bio:
"Mr. Day served 21 years of active duty service in the US Navy SEAL Teams. He served at SEAL Team Three, Four and Eight. Other commands include the Navy Parachute Team, Naval Special Warfare Group Two Training Detachment and Naval Special Warfare Center Advanced Training command Detachment Little Creek. His operational experience includes two OIF deployments and five other deployments throughout Europe, Southeast and Southwest Asia. Military awards include the Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars one with combat "V", Purple Heart and combat Action Ribbon. He is also a recipient of the JINSA Grateful Nation Award. He was wounded on 7 April 2007 while on a capture/kill mission near Fallujah, Iraq. He was shot 16 times in the body and 11 times in his body armor. Senior Chief Day retired from active duty 31 March 2010."
