In knocking door-to-door in IL city, burbs and downstate I found one consistent pattern. White women who are divorced and angry, who are sexually active with a boyfriend or someone not their husband see the government as their safety net.

White women in stable marriages (and widows of same) (and single chaste women who aspire to a stable marriage) see their extended family and voluntary associations as their safety net a la Alexis DeTouqeville.

One woman was not voting my way in the first couple elections when I knocked on her door. In a later election I knocked on her door and she told me that she had fallen in love (again) and was going to get married. Then she said: “I suppose I’ll have to start voting the other way now.” This is typical in the minds and self-identity of many women.

If I move from IL to WI its better if I just switch allegiances and not fight it.

Your experience in talking to voters is amazing. Keep up the good work. All we can do is try to shine the light. Women who are secure and who think things through understand that the government is Nobody’s safety net. Just look at the decimation of Black communities since the Great Society.
