The most precious thing happened to me earlier today.

A bird, mistaking our “bird-killer” giant windows for clear sky, smashed into one and fell to the porch. Usually, they
break their necks, but this one was just stunned. I put her on my finger and took her for a walk around the yard.
Then when we got back to the porch, her buddies were calling to her, so I went to put her in a tree, but she refused
to walk off of my finger. I tried to pick her off my finger, but she got wise and finally realized that I was letting her go,
and not going to have her for Thanksgiving Dinner. She flew right onto a branch in the tree.

And that was that. It was very pleasant and nice.

Yes, Mikey. We saved a lot of them at out other house, too.
We also put a lot of them out on the lawn after they passed.
With local hungry predators, the little birdie snacks went fast.

Trisham, glad you liked my little vignette about the one who
survived. She is a very pretty little girl, and I hope she and
her BF will be nesting in our yard for many years to come.

thesearethetimes..., indeed. I am always relieved when they are
not seriously injured. Once I put one in a shoebox because I
thought it wasn’t badly hurt, but it passed away. I have saved
them with a warm shoebox before, but they can’t be broken
beyond repair and live.

And I cry for the dead ones. I’m such a cry baby, I swear.
