ICANN sees privatization of Internet management soon

The head of the nonprofit group that oversees the world's Internet addresses expressed confidence Thursday that it would be privatized and out of US government control by year's end.

Fadi Chehade's comments came despite criticism in the US Congress, where some lawmakers have resisted the plan to end Washington's key management role in the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

The Globalist want to control the Internet, use it to control the message, spy on people through smart phones, their online bills, bank accounts, smart meters, your personal email, web sites, etc....

This is proof the Globalist lies are being exposed and most people are not buying it. This is why they must seize control of it. They cannot win the debates. So now they just want to shut down freedom on the web.

I don't know how long Free Republic will survive once this happens? I'm sure it will be labeled as a "hate" site since it does not promote the Socialism/Communism.

Our own government has been pretty damaging to the internet too so I’m not sure it matters. What we really need is a domain name solution that is immune to court orders and other forms of government interference.

The implementation of Barack Obama’s takeover of the Internet is less than 30 days away. And as Marsha Blackburn says, if Congress does not take action to stop Barack Obama, the government will “control the Internet” in a little over the month.

Make no mistake, the Internet as you know it will never be the same if we let Barack Obama implement this takeover(with the FCC). You’ll pay more for less service and the government will use this draconian ruling as a club to bludgeon Internet freedom, including ultimately your free speech.

And if you think we exaggerate, consider what Rep. Marsha Blackburn says on the matter: “Once the federal government establishes a foothold into managing how Internet service providers run their networks they will essentially be deciding which content goes first, second, third, OR NOT AT ALL.”

This is easy for me to say, but I recognize it will be very tough for me to do.

If Obama is successful with this government takeover, I’ll quit and shut it all down.

Chehade said all the necessary components for a new stewardship scheme are accounted for and there will be "major legitimizing endorsements" from several countries in coming weeks. AND "It is now up to the community to wrap them up, put them in a nice little box with a bow and ship them to Washington," Chehade said, of the pieces of a plan to supplant a contract ICANN has with the US Department of Commerce.

So, their (ICANN's) suggestions are going to be Sent to Washington and the Dept. of Commerce (w/ the OK of The White House) is going to say "Okay" w/out any fight from Boehner, McConnell or ANYONE ELSE. I can't believe this is going to be allowed to occur before the end of this year and it IS going to happen. UGH!!!

Sorry for the late response but I am so depressed after seeing senators give that Fast track power to Obama .And how Obama will destroy the USA through many ways using “fast track” including his importing millions of immigrants etc. also his upcoming takeover of the Internet, fast track etc. It’s hard for me to write or post I’m so angry and depressed at Obama for ruining the USA and opportunity in the USA.

And the media is hiding this fast track taker-over , Rush nothing , Fox nothing, only a few articles on Freerepublic covering this and only a few of us freepers know what is coming the end of the USA. At least most freepers agree that Obama should not be given this power.
Sessions I don’t know what he is doing. The other senators who voted to give Obama fast track they want Obama to have this power which is INSANE. Media is also hiding Obama’s internet takeover.
