In the next iteration of America, the capital must be dispersed throughout the nation, with the Senate in one place, House in another, Supremes in another, and President in another. And Congressmen should not live in the place where they meet, they go there for a month at a time to conduct business and then back home.
Johnson’s a good Senator and we need to keep him there. You think Feingold gets us closer to where we want to be?
Power corrupts and you gain power over time, which is why I am in favor of term limits - no more than 12 years in any seat.
I'll up the ante. Make all of the Congress critters live in the same co-ed dormitory while Congress is in session with no family visitation privileges. And required to eat in the dorm cafeteria. And required to use the same infirmary. Many benefits ...
1. They will grow to hate each other even more and get the job done just to get away from each other.
2. May encourage an increase in self-limiting term limits because they won't be enjoying the after-hours high life in DC as much entertaining in their private 2nd homes.
3. No worries on keeping a 2nd home in the D.C. area.
4. If the jihadis want to get 'em, this will make the job easier for them by clumping the Congress critters together in 1 spot. We can easily replace them in special elections.
I like your thinking. Good ideas. Also, I think term limits would go a long was to lessening the corruption.
Yes, it’s disheartening and sobering to see so many people you believed to be patriots that signed up for the good fight, reveal themselves to be either co-opted, or phonies from the get-go. I would certainly put Ron Johnson in that category, along with Paul Ryan, Trey Gowdy, and my own Congressman, Ron DeSantis. But then again, I would put anybody who voted to re-elect Boehner for speaker in that category. I think in some cases, it’s a gradual process that they don’t even realize is occurring, and for others, they were phonies from the start.
