Now, multiple source claim the train was going OVER 100 MPH.

Brandon Bostian, Amtrak Engineer: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

"Brandon Bostian was the engineer of an Amtrak train that derailed Tuesday night in north Philadelphia after barreling toward a sharp turn at speeds greater than 100 miles per hour, more than double the speed limit for the area, NBC News reports."

I looked at a wide-angle film (first was in a thread here, close up to the rails complete with timing), no timing, and counted about 5 seconds for the train to pass. 7 cars at 80 ft and an engine about 60 would imply about 85 mph. Of course, this is all unscientific (film didn’t even have timer, so tried to count myself with bad film at night).

Anyway the train does seem to be going faster than I first thought. And probably over the limit for the curve.
