A group of hackers affiliated with ISIS are threatening to carry out a cyber attack—dubbed “Message to America”—against a number of targets 2 p.m. EST today. The targets were not identified on ISIS forums and social channels but the hackers are promising something “surprising” that “will frighten America”.

The Islamic State (ISIS) is poised to mount a Sept. 11-style attack on the United States if the group is not brought under control, said CIA veteran Michael Morell.
“If we don’t get ISIS under control, we’re going to see that kind of attack,” Morell told USA Today. He added that U.S. efforts have not been effective in countering the group, given that it is recruiting hundreds of Americans to its cause.
“It was a mistake to think that al-Qaida died along with bin Laden in Abbottabad,” said Morell, a former CIA deputy director. “They today have the ability to bring down an airliner in the United States … If that happened tomorrow, I would not be surprised.”
