Hotelier Avoids Prison for Violating Campaign Finance Laws
NY Times ^ | Dec, 18, 2014 | Stephanie Clifford

A Democratic fund-raiser and high-profile hotelier, Sant Singh Chatwal, who had pleaded guilty to skirting federal campaign-finance laws and witness tampering, avoided being sent to prison on Thursday, despite facing a possible sentence of more than five years. Judge I. Leo Glasser, of Federal District Court in Brooklyn, sentenced Mr. Chatwal to three years of probation. The judge described Mr. Chatwal’s crimes as an “aberrance,” and seemed swayed by the 272 letters written on his behalf; by the argument that his grown sons needed Mr. Chatwal’s help at home; and by the fact that Mr. Chatwal did not seem to personally benefit from his campaign contributions. Mr. Chatwal, 70, is the president of Hampshire Hotels and Resorts, and his business consists of 12 hotels and 36 restaurants and bars. He leads a lively social life, as seen in the New York magazine feature on his son Vikram’s wedding and in state dinners at the White House.

A huge hotelier and Clinton bag man gets his due.

Chatwal admitted in the Indian press that he paid Hillary to support the Oct 1, 2008 nuclear trading deal with India that got them out of the penalty box. He claims millions, and that she had been against it but got a yes vote!

Chatwal was a great, great friend of the Clintons. Not a lot of press about this, but the whole business was dirty and brazen. The conspiracy of silence is astonishing, the Dems own the media and they protect the Clintons.

They diminish America....

Excuse me? "gets his due"?

He's walking away to enable the revolution another day.

At least this hotelier didn’t invite Ted Cruz to a private discussion, which obviously is a much more extremist event.

They’d have thrown the book at him if he did that.

Meanwhile, some are getting less equal with each passing day.

A conviction!

In Clinton world, that is a victory.

They are up to their necks in sleaze and are made of teflon. They flout the laws, show nothing but contempt for the American voters, lie with impunity to the faces of the mothers of fallen heroes. They sold Marc Rich a pardon, sold the Lincoln bedroom like a whore on the street, drug dealers freed, Puerto Rican terrorists pardoned for votes, cattle futures, Russian uranium, India nuclear trading, 500 grand speeches, giving out AIDS drugs in Kazakhstan where no one has AIDS, erasing emails, destroying evidence, selling, stealing, scamming, scheming - it never stops. Yes, getting a conviction is a surprise when our Justice Department is the marketing arm of the Democratic Party, working hand in hand with Media Matters.

The press is delinquent in its duty.

The Clintons diminish America.

It must be in Alinsky somewhere. It's like "too big to fail" -- "too crooked to punish"?

Thank God for Karma.

Yes, Dinesh gets over a year and a day, making him a convicted felon (and unable to vote) while this Clinton cashcow get’s probation because his grown up children depend on him.

Hell, he can get them jobs in his hotel WHILE HE IS SERVING HIS SENTENCE IN JAIL.

How do you say “FIX”? Or, NY Liberal judge. Nevermind!

At some point Jews will realize that the DEMOCRATS are simply SELLING THEM OUT. Unfortunately it will likely be after they’re loaded in the cattle cars.
