I don’t have a low opinion of them, but, soldiers are trained and drilled to follow orders. Keep in mind they followed orders to kill their fellow Americans in the distant past. I would wager 90% will do as they are told. What do you think?

There's a world of difference between 1860 and now, and the game on the ground is so vastly different that no comparison can reasonably be made between the two. However, I'd still put the number more at around 40% or so. The problem is that this number creeps upwards every year as more and more "old" military (i.e. the guys who joined for love of country, etc. and who are generally conservative, Christians, and so forth) retire, refuse to re-up, or are cashiered out. They're being replaced by Mexicans and other foreigners, gangbangers and other lowlifes, and other assorted rabble who will have no problem viewing old white middle class constitutionalist gun owners as "the enemy."
The fortunately thing is that mercenaries are usually not as motivated as volunteers. Likewise, the "new" military (the Mexicans, gangbangers, etc.) are generally neither as intelligent nor as competent as the guys they're replacing. Less initiative. Less innovative in their thinking. Less disciplined to follow orders and withstand military disciple.
