If a person has served their debt to society, they should have all of their rights restored, including gun rights.

"Paying one's debt to society" is a phrase used to describe sitting in jail doing nothing. It's hard to see how it pays any debt. In fact, it's more like the opposite, since it costs society quite a bit to keep a felon incarcerated.

Then kill them, or punish them in a manner where they do pay their debt.

I don't mind either option. I just want the life-time thing gone when it's advertised as 5 years or whatever.
