The reports I’m seening here on fr show that cruz is getting big support among the party activists—that is the people who will run his ground game in iowa.

Candidate that FR go gaga over never win the nomination. FR loved Alan Keyes. Adored Duncan Hunter. Fell all over Fred Thompson and Herman Cain. Hated McCain and Romney.

I would go so far as to say it's a good counter indicator. And it points to Cruz not being the eventual nominee, sadly.

I usually tell people that McCain 2008 and Romney 2012 were the Republican answer to Al Gore 2000 and John Kerry 2004. All four were toothless centrists.

The other FR "endorsed" candidates you named could not hold a candle to Ted Cruz. Alan Keyes was/is an idiot. Duncan Hunter didn't have a clue as to how to run a campaign. As far as Fred Thompson the closest he came to having "fire in the belly" was a bad case of heartburn.... what a freakin' dud. Herman Cain was a womanizing whore monger who did not have the balls to stand up to his accusers, but rather ran and hid behind his wife and God. He was guilty as hell of the charges leveled against him; otherwise he'd have stood up and said: "I'm not running from this. I demand to face my accusers on national TV." Nah; Cain dude was a creep.
Ted Cruz is head and shoulders above that crowd.
