n addition to Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer is also taking a lot of heat, as evidenced during an interview on CNN, where Spencer was accused of setting bait and wanting violence.

...

I saw a CNN article last night that called it a “free speech event.” I was shocked.

A little reminder of how the media [NYT] treated and defended free speech/'art' when it is blatantly anti-Christian ('piss' Christ) ....

“The photograph is clean and purified, the reliquary or shrine in which he clearly believes that the word about the body can be stored and spread,” Brenson wrote. “People may agree or disagree with him, or they may question his belief in photography, but how can anyone find in his work just obscenity and disrespect? It is hard to believe that anyone whose faith is searching and secure would not be grateful for what Mr. Serrano has done.”

How about we insert Pamela Geller's name where Serrano's is?

I recall during the controversy about "Piss Christ" (the crucifix displayed in a jar of urine at a publicly-funded are show), the media treated Christian anger at the display as a sign of immaturity. Christians were told to "lighten up," to remember the sacredness of free speech, and to join the modern world in which a bit of offensive art is to be taken for granted and even celebrated.

They are sure singing a different tune now.

With every story like this, people are discussing and forming stronger and stronger opinions. Sides are being taken. People are being exposed. Battle lines are being drawn.

And it’s not just on this issue. It’s also happening with race relations, cops response to crime, etc.

The internet and social media are radically changing the culture. More and more people are getting off the fence and choosing a side on each issue. People are exposing their core values.

This is a very good thing. Bible prophesy actually talks about this in the end days. More and more you will KNOW who you are dealing with.

The Press will always take the most short-sighted, frightened, and simple answer for any situation.

Ironically, this mirrors the Liberal stance.

Makes you think.

I could be wrong, but I believe that many on the left are disappointed that the Garland attackers missed their mark.

Pam’s tough. This won’t get to her. Funny, how no one is mentioning the great Dutch leader, Geerts Wilder, who was at her side the entire time.

“There’s a fine line to be drawn between making a political statement and inciting someone to start breaking out the rifles and taking shots.”

Generally, the line is crossed whenever the shots start.

Leftists and all of their socialist/communist ilk are drawn to islam like flys are drawn to crap.

The whole power structure/teachings/tennants of islam mirror the whole concept of communism/totalitarianism to a tee.

The only reason why the leftist cabal in the US hasn’t gone full tilt communist is for one reason only: Christians armed to the teeth.

Ask the media what they are going to do when Islam starts attacking media members for reporting on attacks or whatever else jihadis think shouldn’t be reported.

One of the positions liberals used to pat themselves on the back for holding was, “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”

Sad.

It is interesting that this saying is (mis)-attributed to Voltaire, who spent most of his career saying highly offensive things about Christianity in general and the Catholic Church in particular.

Let me see if I have this straight. According to the leftist point of view.

Holding a drawing contest for a religious figure is provocative.

Trying to kill the people attending the contest is not provocative.

Dear Leftist, you need to be worried more about Texans than you are worried about Islamists. We shoot much straighter and quicker.

Its time for all of us to start standing up and let the blowback commence. Especially agains’t any of these so called conservative talking heads who side with Islam. They know who they are.

If you do not stand up for the exercise of speech that you find distasteful, disagreeable, offensive, or even obscene, then you do not support free speech.

The way to counter “irresponsible” speech is with your own free speech, not by shutting down others through violence, law, or intimidation.
