It wasn't a fair fight.
On one side, you had two men in body armor, toting assault rifles and showing every willingness to open fire now and count their victims later. On the other, you had a security officer -- a traffic officer by day -- with a pistol.
Somehow, the officer won.
Authorities have not released the name of the overmatched Garland, Texas, police officer who stopped a pair of gunmen Sunday night. But they have described what he did, actions that could be characterized as equal parts skillful, heroic and miraculous.
The event started, by all accounts, without a hitch.
Until, that is, about 6:50 p.m., when a dark-colored vehicle pulled into the entrance the Garland officer and school district officer were blocking.
"When that car pulled up and stopped, those officers began to exit that vehicle and two men exited the dark-colored sedan," Harn said. "Both of them had assault rifles, came around the back of the car and started shooting at the police car."
Gunfire reverberated around the complex, from the two gunmen, and the armed officer. A short time later, four members of a nearby SWAT team came in firing their high-powered rifles. But by the time they did, the Garland traffic officer was the only one standing.
The two attackers were already down on the ground by their car, having been shot by the traffic officer.
Within 15 seconds, the chaotic eruption was basically over.

This Story just keeps getting better and better every time I Read It !
Awhile back I shot a squirrel. He was perfectly silhouetted against the sky, up on the peak of the roof. Shot him with my little Marlin .22. I’d been listening to him chew inside the wall at night for what seemed like months. Got him in the neck, right under his little chin.
It’s nice and quiet now.

Bet Mr AV behaves himself! My patents always jokes that mom was a better shot than dad and he “admired”
Her greatly.
Sidney Squirrel,,
Alas,
no more.
ha ha!
Not a Texans first day at the rodeo!
I’ve heard that one witness reported hearing about 20 shots fired.
HE PUSHED FORWARD: Brave Garland Police Officer Advanced As He Brought Down Garland Terrorists
GPD got their own new range a few years ago, looks like someone practiced there !
Mr. AV is a force of nature - he can’t be made to behave! But he does admire me greatly too ; )
Mrs. AV
Very interesting article, thanks for posting. That guy was brave!
Traffic cop, never shot at anyone his whole career - God must have prepared him for that day. Made him continue to train despite being “just an old traffic cop”.
God Bless Texas!!!
Mrs. AV
Ha Ha indeed!
I hate to ask, but has anyone released any information on what kinds of weapons the bad guys had on them?
They had Keltec sub-2000s in 9mm
Really?!
Wow!
Thank you much.
Judging from their weapons and tactics, I think we’re going to find their only connection to ISIS was electronic.
I’ve seen the videos of operators mocking ISIS “training” films, but I’ve got to believe, given their successes in the field, even they aren’t as inept as the Garland jihadis.
Either way, hitting the shooting range a little more often wouldn’t be that bad of an idea.
I just went this morning.
Then bury them covered in pork rinds.
BTW, for all the folks who think the police are becoming militarized, this is why. Drug dealers, even your average thugs, and now Muslims have weaponry that far surpasses what cops used to have. Since a police force was outgunned in a fight on LA’s streets years ago, all law enforcement has beefed up their weaponry and protective gear. Yes, that includes armored vehicles. They need them.
What’s that?
Sorry, should have included the name.
It’s the “laser ammo” training kit. Absolutely outstanding “dry fire” practice aid. It fires a brief visible laser pulse that can be used with or without a sensor to refine your aim and gun handling skills. 100% safe, too. The system prevents loading any live ammo while in use, and sports a bright red muzzle cap to show the system is installed. No alteration to your weapon needed.
I’ve shrunk my groups to a third of what they were before using it.
