I sleep on the far side of the bed from the bedroom door. There's just me in the house. Hanging from the bedpost is my 1911. On the floor, Mossberg 500, plug out, loaded sequentially with 00 and #4 shells. On the nightstand, three more mags for the 1911. I would just slip down onto the floor behind the bed and wait. Sooner or later one or more of them is going to come in that bedroom door.

I'd add ¾-inch plywood faced with steel sheet, with the steel towards you. I'd also add a chain, even knowing that the chain would pull off the door frame. And add to that front door a weighted treble hook or two.

And clips above the door to keep them safe during the day.
