Never mind that they likely would have said not much different about the Loral deal towards China. In addition, the Clinton family reputation would suggest that this deal is just as harmful as all the ones they stated as "harmless".

First, Bill is incredibly good at spinning and nuancing. It's one of his major political talents. That said, his comments underscore the ‘ends justifies the means’ mentality that gets used to rationalize bad and often criminal behavior by politicians all too often.
