When a party wins control of the Senate during an administration of the opposing party, typically they do everything in their power to highlight sharp contrasts on critical issues--especially when the presidents party is on the wrong side of public opinion.
Republicans have flipped this common sense strategy on its head and have manipulated the Senate floor process to obfuscate the party divide and shield the Democrats from embarrassing votes.
Just how far will McConnell go to protect Democrats?
As a means of greasing the skids for the Corker-Cardin Democrat loin cloth bill to pass the Senate, thereby shielding Obama from criticism over his appalling alliance with Iran, Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has agreed to set the threshold for passage of amendments at 60 votes. Accordingly, even if all 54 Republicans vote for the common sense amendments that will actually put teeth into this bill, the amendments will fail and the odious nature of the bill will remain intact.
Yet, that was not enough for Democrats.
Harry Reid (D-NV) and Ben Cardin (D-MD) were scared their party would be embarrassed by voting down popular amendments, such as forcing Iran to stop the terrorism, release American captives, and recognize Israel. So they secured an agreement from several Republicans to vote along with them, even though GOP opposition to the amendments is not needed to defeat them. Democrats want cover for the right to allow Republicans to pass a bill
which does nothing but give Democrats cover.

It’s like they believe Democrats have a credible gun to their heads.

The EXEMPT undocumented Democrats:
"Americans are such fools. No matter how many times
you find that we support Obama, Lynch, Reid and ObamaCARE ....
and HATE conservatives who deserve to be abused by the IRS
you idiots still believe our lies ... and vote for us."
Just how far will McConnell go to protect Democrats?
It will only stop when the Iranian nuclear bomb goes off in Washington.
