CA DMV not available to Natural born or Naturalized citizens on Saturday but, if'n yer an immigrant

So, get this. I was offered a job to sell cars by a friend, who owns the largest automobile dealership group in Northern California.

Drug Test: Check...Completed

Finger Print Test: Check...Need to finish

CA DMV License to sell cars: Check... but, wait. "You are from America? You can't use DMV on Weekend.

DMV, on weekend, is only availble to immigrants...

Huh?

I am a Natural Born American. A full blown Tax Slave every since I can remember and I cannot use DMV on weekend?

No. Funny rules, due to influx of immigrants, DMV is only available to immigrants.

All others can use DMV office only on weekdays?

WTF?

Sir?

I'm confused. I am an American. I would think I have the right to fast pass to the front of the line. What gives?

Well, there is a large number of immigrants who are being granted licenses and we've reserved Saturdays for them.

You are kidding?

No sir.

So, an American actually has to take the day from his Monday through Friday job and his 8-5 shift, losing work and pay he could use, to avail himself of a service he pays for, so immigrants who are not here lawfully can use the DMV for their special class of people?

Nobody likes it but, that's the new rule.

Well, what if I speak Spanish and claim I need an interpreter? Can I just walk in then?

Well, no. You are not an immigrant.

Uhmmm....Prove it. In fact, prove they are as well, while you're at it. My Spanish is actually pretty good and I should get and an Academy Award for my superb ability to act stupid.

So, seriously, no DMV on Saturdays for Americans and I have to come in on Monday, the day I'm actually suppose to be at work, skip making money, for the convenience of "Immigrants"???

Well, I wish I could ask for a lower tax bill then since I cannot one or two lanes for 8 hours of a day and a service I pay for is unavailable to me for 17% of the time...

You'll have to work that out with your accountant.

Pretty much the conversation I just had with DMV.

I just might move back to Murica. Oklahoma isn't that bad and I can buy more home with tons of land for 1/2 the money the givernment doesn't loot/fleece me for...

According to the California Department of Motor Vehicles’ “Vehicle Salesperson License Handbook,” an applicant is to submit their application “at your local Department of Motor Vehicles field office.” Ok... So what are the field office hours? Per http://apps.dmv.ca.gov/fo/fotoc.htm:

“Services provided by DMV offices include Vehicle Registration, Driver License and Identification (ID) Card Processing. You may use the regional maps to locate a field office by region. DMV offices are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (except holidays) between 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.”

What about Saturday? Again, per that web page:

“The following DMV offices have extended Saturday office hours by appointment exclusively for driver license transactions.” They then provide a link to those offices.

So, according to California’s DMV web site, only some offices are open on Saturday and those that are, are only open for driver license transactions.

You have nothing to complain about. You went on the wrong day. California does not provide vehicle salesperson licensing on Saturdays.

I guess you are a supposed expert contrarian given your nome de juer.

This is a new process that began at the end of January and they have restricted the regular DMV offices to “immigrants” on Saturdays but, the DMV is available to them on every day they are open.

If you are renewing your license, which I did in February, they are directing you to Super Centers, which are faster and practically overstaffed but, are only for Americans & Legal Residents.

I was freakin surprised how fast it went.

However, my local DMV is 5 minutes from my house.

The nearest super center is 40 minutes away. So, while it was fast, I had to drive 40 minutes out of town and then back, in rush hour, which I didn’t appreciate.

I shouldn’t be required to drive out my way and “immigrants” don’t have to.

within (1) hour of my house there are 26 DMV and one supercenter.

Crazy.

The new directions for faster service at super centers only began in January, the restriction of DMV local centers only for “immigrants” new licensing began in February, I think, however the dealership was shocked to learn this and it may have begun just in the last month.

A background check and Auto Sales license from the California State DMV to sell cars?

Is this a nation wide universal thing? The only thing that makes me understand it is that its California.
