A Baltimore Police officer facing decades in prison if convicted for his role in the death of Freddie Gray has ties to South Jersey.

Officer Edward Nero served as a member of the Washington Township Fire Department in Gloucester County for a decade, said township Fire Chief John Hoffman.

Sad to have to deal with this drama, if innocent. Guess that’s always potentially part of the deal being a cop. I would always choose to be a firefighter. Matter of fact, I wish I had considered that as a career when I was younger.

I would quit if I was a Baltimore police officer. All these charges showed me is that they are more than willing to appease a mob with the lives of those who are there to protect.

I am absolutely positive that many of the white Baltimore cops will be looking to move on. Some will hide out and lower their risk while preparing to leave. The older ones will hide out and try to simply put in their time.
