The baked sculpture features two buildings reminiscent of the World Trade Center with two airplanes colliding into them. There are even globs of gray and red-colored frosting in the center of each building to show the impact of the planes. The buildings are labeled SPÖ and ÖVP, the initials of two Austrian political parties.

Thomas Kienbauer, who owns the Alexander patisserie in Vienna, says he didn’t intend for the baked sculpture to offend anyone.

“I know about the sensitivity of 9/11 and I certainly did not want to ridicule the tragedy.

Eh...that is not a cake that I would want any piece of, but whatever, there is way worse things going on in this world right now than this dude’s really strange cake.

What is it with the politically correct police and bakers? Don’t bake an offensive cake and they want your hide. Bake an offensive cake and they want your hide.

I am offended by the cake, but just because I feel that way shouldn’t give me the power to prohibit them from doing something that in no way causes me harm. At the same time there should be no prohibition on my expressing profound disapproval of them and their asinine behavior even though I most assuredly would offend them in my colorful choice of words.

Not a subject for a cake. Poor judgement.

This world is getting ridiculous. You can’t refuse to bake a cake you don’t want to, and when you do make one, people whine about the one you made.

It may be tactless, idiotic, and yes, even offensive, but no one has the right to say he shouldn’t be allowed to do it (and ditto for the client who requested it). If someone is truly offended, they’re free to not patronize the business. The end.
