States Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby said Friday she has probable cause to file criminal charges in the much publicized death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray who died while in police custody.
Six officers, including a lieutenant and a sergeant, have been suspended after the incident. Gray suffered a spinal injury and died after riding in a police transport van that made several stops.
On Thursday, Baltimores police officials said they turned over their initial report to prosecutors a day earlier than expected.

Exactly. When she said something to the effect of “I’ve heard you calls of no justice no peace” it showed she was a activist.
It seems lie she is doing what the mob wants, not what the evidence may support. If that is the case, and she can’t get a conviction the the riots of this past week will look like child’s play.
.....”If I was one of the accused I would not have a good feeling about her being impartial and unbiased....They say “Justice Is Blind” but I believe this woman already has her thumb on the scale.”.....
Exactly right! Imo.....It’s really too bad she could have presented this in a much more professional manner.....I was sooo surprised she gave so many details...again playing this out for the mob. They have “demanded” all along details and that’s exactly what she gave them.
When it targets the big government that statists love--the police. Law and order conservatives aren't about law and order or conservatism.
I would too.
I dunno. That seems like a typical "no nonsense, protector of the people" stance and look that you would see in an official photo of any big city or federal prosecutor.
You believe she's a no nonsense prosecutor?
Tell me, how many times was the suspect in question arrested and then released?
If she was such a no nonsense prosecutor, why does Baltimore appear to be a smoldering lawless war zone?
One more question Tonto, if she is such a no nonsense prosecutor, could you show me her comments and quotes of her outrage directed at the Mayor for publicly instructing law enforcement to give "Space" to those who wish to destroy?
Take your time here Tonto.
at least 18 arrests...he had lots of practice....and crying wolf is standard practice for repeat offenders.
How or not that will play into a trial though remains to be seen....the whole Idea is the black community is demanding better treatment. In other words...treat them as if they aren’t repeat offenders.
It comes to mind that there are actually two problems with that.
First is the obvious one - he was arrested for carrying a knife that was not illegal to carry.
Second, even if he had been carrying a switchblade, it seems to me that the law against switchblades is plainly a violation of the Second Amendment. Firearms obviously command most of the attention in Second Amendment debates, but knives are clearly "arms" as well. Odd to see so many Freepers cheering for the police arresting someone for carrying a knife....
She has her own ax to grind....
They need to secure the black vote which had been slipping....
Of course we can. Odd that you started in the thread by criticizing the DA for bringing charges, but are now saying that we should "wait until the trial." How do you think we get to the trial? Charges are the first step. That's the whole point of this process.
How? Take a look at the laundry list of charges, on 6 people, and you tell me how in a little over 2 weeks that they went through a thorough investigation of the situation. The medical report came out just yesterday, the ink is not even dry yet.
Welll.....there’s further details in this we aren’t hearing of course. So that’s not all.
If the Baltimore Police had arrested a card-carrying NRA Life Member for carrying the exact same knife and the exact same thing had happened to the NRA member that happened to Gray then these same FReepers would be singing a completely different tune.
As mentioned prior.....is this going to be a seat belt issue when it comes down to the wire?
It is...the question is: will they ?
This whole case smells. I love the fact that Freddie Grays family lawyer is large contributor to the DA Mosby.
Seems most folks think so, although if they can some how prove the paddy wagon driver was trying to give a ‘rough ride’ on purpose its going to be worse. But I dont know how you can go about proving that.
As I said elsewhere, look for the trifecta:
* A financial panic (not a collapse, just a panic will do);
* Race riots spawned by a high-profile incident;
* A mass-casualty event involving assault weapons;
Look for all three at once, or in rapid succession. Thats the trip point.
In 2013, they did a test run: the Washington Navy Yard shooting, the Zimmerman Trial, and the EBT card shutdown in October.
That was dress rehearsal. Whats coming is Opening Night.
>> Odd that you started in the thread by criticizing the DA for bringing charges
Damn straight I did, and I stand by it.
A matter of this importance should have gone to a grand jury. Let them bring charges, if any are justified.
I still maintain that the DA rushing to bring charges herself is racially motivated.
I still maintain that the leadership of Baltimore — essentially 100% black — is corrupt, incompetent, and racist as hell.
Prove me wrong.
Who said anything about the riots being justified? Did you see anything I wrote justifying the idiots burning and looting?
The rioters are frankly useless idiots, they don’t even know why they are doing what they are doing, just doing it because they can like most morons. That’s neither here nor there when it comes to the charging of the officers.
As to your allegations that white guys are being found dead in paddy wagons all the time when put their by black cops, please cite me your evidence to this allegation.
I don’t care that the perp was black, I don’t care if the cops were white or black, that’s not the issue here, the issue is a person in police custody mysteriously winds up with a broken spine, and that’s something that should be disturbing to anyone! Why are people so small minded and idiotic that they cannot understand the simple lessons of history? If the powers that be can do this to someone you dislike today, they can do it to you tomorrow, that’s the pure and simple matter at the heart of this.
The medical examiner ruled this a homicide, meaning death caused by the actions of another human being, in this case there are no extenuating circumstances where the perp was killed because he was threatening others or a threat to himself etc... Homicide in and of itself is not murder or even manslaughter.. however the facts of this case as they now stand certainly do not meet the merits that this homicide can be justified, as such those culpable for it should be at least facing manslaughter charges.
Now the facts of the case may turn up facts that are not yet known and change the dynamic, but with what is known currently I can’t see how any DA could not file at the very least manslaughter charges against those last in contact with the dead man. They may be found innocent in a court of law, but there is no justifiable homicide here, so once its been declared homicide I really can’t see how any DA can decide no charges are warranted unless they were on the take or part of a conspiracy.
