My cousin in Indiana said they have this lifetime permit and his was in neighborhood of $125-$150. $500 is pretty steep!

It is.

Looking at the Tn.gov website on the existing regulations, a 4 year CC is $115, with $50 to renew each time. If done that way, $500 would cover 36 years. Since I’m 54 and probably won’t live to be 90, statistically, it’s cheaper to renew 4 years at a time. Until they raise fees, that is.

I just moved to beautiful Tennessee. Taxes and the people are definitely better than Mexifornia. BUT there are some fees/taxes that are still confiscatory, like the cost of a LLC. All states have to get money somehow, I suppose. At least property taxes are very low and no state income tax except on dividends and capital gains.
