Were you playing in the NFL this year? I think the Bucs could have won more games with you (at your age) starting than McGown.

What a crock. I understand that years of POT use will kill your old brain. That POC is history. If he hadn’t had football he would be an unemployed steel worker like his brother in Beaver falls, Pa. Shut up Joe before you embarrass yourself.

If not for that one game in Super Bowl III when he predicted a victory and beat the Baltimore Orioles 16-7, would we even remember who Joe Namath was?
His entire claim to fame seems to revolve around that one game.
He also did some pantyhose ads in the early 1970s. I guess that caused a stir as well.

Namath was one the first of new style, quick release qbs. There were great passing qbs like Unitas, Sonny Jurgenson, and Y.A. Tittle, but Namath was the first qb I saw who had a quick release. Starr was a great qb, but although he was very accurate, he only had a mediocre arm. He won with his brain.

If not for that one game in Super Bowl III when he predicted a victory and beat the Baltimore Orioles 16-7, Wow. That would be memorable. I think you mean the Colts.

Namath was a great running QB up until he hurt his knee playing for Bama.

He has a great point, you know. Without your brain you're nothing. Never stopped Ted kennedy or Joe Biden or a whole lot of other democrats.

Easy to say after you have made your money from playing and endorsement deals. Shut up Joe.
To: Right Brother
Namath deserves to be called one of the best. You can only really gauge a player in the era that they played. Namath was the dominant QB in the NFL in ‘69 and the AFL in ‘68 and won a SB in the bargain. Nobody get a ring for stats.
To: yarddog
I knew he was a great QB but didnt know about his athleticism. Was a good running QB at Bama until his first knee injury, and was a good basketball player. He played on a bad knee` from his sophomore year on, two bad knees all during his pro career.

Roll Tide! Without football, Namath would be a total unknown.

The guys on the field are the best at what they do. And that is one of the key reasons why the NFL is so popular. The guys on the field aren't diversity hires. People like watching the best. This is the plain truth.
However, the sport has gone over the line of human body tolerance. NO ONE is made to take the sort of punishment which the best are capable of dishing out in this time.
