JAKE MILLER CBS NEWS April 29, 2015 Hillary Clinton: Time To "End The Era of Mass Incarceration"
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton spoke at length Wednesday about the recent unrest in Baltimore, addressing racial disparities in the criminal justice system, calling for an end to the "era of mass incarceration," and laying out a detailed vision for reform during a speech in New York City.
Though Clinton's speech at the Dinkins Forum at Columbia University had been planned for months, it offered her a timely opportunity to comment on the volatile situation in Baltimore, which has been beset by protests and riots after the death of a young black man in police custody earlier this month.
Freddie Gray, a 25 year old from the Gilmore Homes neighborhood of Baltimore, was detained by police officers on April 12 for possession of a switchblade. He was dragged into a police van and taken to the station. When he arrived 25 minutes later, he was in a coma, his spinal cord 80 percent severed from his neck. A week later, despite extensive surgery, he passed away.
"Yet again, the family of a young black man is grieving a life cut short," Clinton said Wednesday. "Yet again, the streets of an American city are marred by violence, by shattered glass and shouts of anger and shows of force. Yet again, a community is reeling, its fault lines laid bare and its bonds of trust and respect frayed. Yet again, brave police officers have been attacked in the line of duty. What we have seen in Baltimore should, I think does, tear at our soul."

She’s just referring to today’s felons.
She’s all for mass incarceration for Conservatives.
The justice system needs reform....but Hillary is NOT the person to do so.

Hillary needs the votes.
I see Hillary is preemptively trying to reduce prison sentences for felons, seeing she is one.
My father just asked today if I knew an author who could write a story about Obama using his pardons to empty the jails and destruction that would follow.
On its own it is meaningless. First, there is no mass incarceration. Second, specifics please. Are we going to release specific types of convictions or just certain races of people? Is this going to be a deal where they release the most people in swing states so as to gain more votes?
I agree with Hillary to a point.
We currently incarcerate more people than China and Russia combined here in the “Land of the Free” - and many of those held in for-profit prisons.
This is a disgrace. Every violation of law does not need a prison sentence attached.
Words, just meaningless words to attempt to capitalize on the burning and looting of Baltimore. At this point, what does it matter?
On a 17th Amendment-related note, please consider the following.
I’m curious how many people are in prison for violating a federal law which the Senate shouldn’t have passed because the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to make such a law.
The 17th Amendment needs to disappear.

Liberals are all for letting criminals out on the street so long as they can live behind walls and security guards.
The prison system is a graduate school of moral inversion, depravity, and crime. It should be replaced entirely by:
1) A radical increase in capital punishment
2) Physical punishment for most property crimes
3) Separation from society for sociopaths who do not warrant death, either on an island that can be secured from escape or in interior Alaska in a large (100 000 acre) compound that can be secured from escape. In either event separation would be permanent and those separated would have to fend for themselves as best they could among others of their own kind.
Russia and China just kill them
I wonder how that will work out in Democrat strongholds, where law abiding citizens are disarmed and not allowed to defend themselves. This will hurt leftists a lot more than it will conservatives.
